JOB SUMMARY:

Within the context of a client and family-centred care model and in accordance with established vision and values of the organization and in close collaboration with the occupational therapist, this position provides support for employment services for adult clients with mental health disabilities. Establishes rapport with clients and their family; encourages and supports the attainment of educational and/or employment goals. Provides support to assist clients to obtain information on volunteer and/or employment opportunities and/or job training/retraining initiatives and programs.

Provides life skills and pre-employment skills training as needed to clients as part of their volunteer and/or employment readiness. Interviews clients to identify interests, skills, values, job readiness and suitability for employment and /or volunteer opportunities. Provides assistance with resume writing, job search and retention skills.

Facilitates resume and/or interview preparation workshops. Identifies prospective employers within the community appropriate to client’s work profiles. Develops and maintains relationships with vocational resource organizations, provincial and federal vocational programs, wage subsidy programs, etc. to foster employment opportunities for client group.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

Community Social Service Diploma or completion of a recognized program in psychosocial rehabilitation plus two years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Valid BC Drivers license and access to a personal vehicle for which the Employer will pay mileage

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Ability to deal with others effectively.

Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

Ability to organize work.

Ability to operate related equipment.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
