Job Summary The Avionics Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and modification of aircraft electrical and avionics systems. This role ensures aircraft systems are maintained and functioning in accordance with engineering specifications, regulatory requirements, approved technical data, and DHC standards. The technician works from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, technical manuals, and work instructions to complete avionics maintenance, installation, modification, and troubleshooting activities.

Direct Accountabilities: Install, maintain, modify, inspect, and troubleshoot aircraft electrical and avionics systems and components.

Perform wiring installation, routing, termination, connector assembly, bonding, grounding, and related electrical work.

Work with aircraft systems including communication, navigation, surveillance, instrumentation, flight deck, electrical power, sensors, antennas, and associated equipment.

Interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, technical manuals, and work instructions.

Perform continuity checks, functional testing, system verification, and fault isolation using appropriate test equipment.

Identify, diagnose, and resolve electrical and avionics discrepancies in accordance with approved procedures and technical data.

Complete required work orders, maintenance records, inspection documentation, and test reports.

Ensure all work meets applicable regulatory, safety, quality, and airworthiness requirements.

Indirect Accountabilities: Collaborate with AMEs, engineering, quality, production, planning, and other technical teams to resolve aircraft issues.

Support aircraft maintenance, modification, production, testing, and delivery activities as required.

Participate in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Provide technical guidance to apprentices and junior technicians as appropriate.

organized, and safe work environment.

Education Required Completion of an accredited technical program in Aircraft Avionics, Aircraft Maintenance, Electrical, Electronics, or a related discipline.

Equivalent combination of education and relevant hands-on experience may be considered. Experience, Skills and Attitude Required 2+ years of experience in aircraft avionics, electrical systems, aircraft maintenance, modification, installation, or a related aerospace environment.

Solid understanding of aircraft electrical and avionics systems, wiring, connectors, and components.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.

Experience with electrical and avionics testing, troubleshooting, and fault isolation.

Proficiency with electrical measurement and avionics test equipment.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and airworthiness.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving skills.

Previous experience with DHC aircraft, including Dash 8, Twin Otter, CL-215, CL-215T, or CL-415, is considered an asset.

Transport Canada AME-E licence or progress toward an AME-E licence is considered an asset.

Working Conditions Maintain strict adherence to De Havilland Aircraft of Canada (DHC) Health & Safety Policies.

Work in various environmental conditions, including temperature extremes, confined spaces, heights, and around chemicals.

Must be able to climb, stand, kneel, lift up to 50 pounds, push, pull, bend, reach, carry, walk, crawl, balance, and use stairs.

Must be able to work shift rotations including weekends and/or night shifts, on-call or overtime as required.

Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for workplace safety.

Ensure the ability to maintain a positive fit test when mask use is necessary.
