The Opportunity
Chaparral Industries is seeking an experienced Commercial Modular Sales Representative to join our team in Kelowna.
This role is primarily focused on commercial modular sales and client relationship management, with responsibility for supporting projects from the initial sales opportunity through design coordination, manufacturing, delivery, and completion. The position may also support select residential modular projects and clients.
The successful candidate will have commercial and/or residential construction knowledge, strong organizational and project coordination skills, and the ability to work effectively with clients, homeowners, architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, permitting offices, and Chaparral's internal teams.
About Chaparral For over 50 years, Chaparral Industries has designed and manufactured quality modular buildings for clients throughout British Columbia and Western Canada. Based in Kelowna, our projects include commercial and institutional buildings, healthcare and education facilities, Indigenous projects, workforce accommodations, and custom residential modular homes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage commercial modular sales opportunities from initial client contact through proposal, contract award, and project delivery.
- Support select residential modular sales opportunities, including working with homeowners to understand their building requirements, budgets, site considerations, and project expectations.
- Achieve established sales targets while maintaining appropriate project margins.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients and identify opportunities for repeat business.
- Work with clients and internal teams to develop appropriate modular building solutions.
- Prepare proposals, budgets, preliminary schedules, specifications, RFP submissions, and other sales documentation.
- Review and understand construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, contracts, and project requirements.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors,
permitting offices, and authorities having jurisdiction.
- Assist with design development, engineering requirements, permitting information, approvals, client selections, and other pre-manufacturing requirements.
- Track key project milestones and communicate potential scope, cost, schedule, or coordination issues.
- Maintain regular client communication throughout the sales and project lifecycle.
- Maintain accurate CRM, sales pipeline, forecasting, and project information.
- Identify new sales opportunities and represent Chaparral at selected industry events, trade shows, and client meetings.
What You'll Bring
- Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial or residential construction sales, construction, technical sales, project coordination, or a related industry.
- Proven sales and client relationship experience with the ability to develop new opportunities and repeat business.
- Knowledge of commercial and/or residential construction processes, including design, permitting, construction documentation, and project delivery.
- Experience working directly with commercial clients, developers, contractors, or homeowners through the sales and construction process.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
- Experience working with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and permitting authorities.
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple clients, projects, schedules, approvals, and priorities.
- Experience preparing proposals, budgets, and estimates; experience responding to RFPs and tenders is considered an asset.
- Excellent written,
verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and follow-through.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM software.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and willingness to travel throughout British Columbia and Western Canada as required.
Previous modular construction experience is preferred but not required. We are interested in candidates with strong commercial or residential construction knowledge, proven sales ability, and the capacity to learn modular construction.
Experience in residential home sales, public-sector procurement, or working with municipal, provincial, federal, institutional, or Indigenous clients is also considered an asset.
