Red Pheasant Cree Nation is seeking a dedicated and cutting-edge Community Pantry Assistant. This employee will assist the Food Security Coordinator in food distribution and support the community's education on healthy eating and food sovereignty, while working collaboratively with internal and external partners to improve long term food security for Red Pheasant members.

The incumbent, with direction from the Red Pheasant Health Director and Food Security Coordinator, will support and adhere to the mission and vision of the organization while providing services to the community of Red Pheasant Cree Nation.

Duties

Assist to plan, prepare and distribute food hampers in a confidential manner

Assist to maintain a client tracking log sheet and service records

Track household usage and community usage trends

Receive, sort, label and store food donations and deliveries

Ensure the space is clean, organized and securely locked up,



rotating stock regularly and tracking any waste

Participate in and help organize community gardening, canning workshops, food sovereignty teachings and seasonal food harvesting

Assist the coordinator in long term planning towards food sovereignty initiatives

Other duties as assigned by the Community Pantry Coordinator or the RPCN Health Director

Qualifications

Must possess cultural awareness and sensitivity

Self directed working habits and demonstrated strong organizational skills

Have an excellent rapport with people

Must be able to lift, carry, bend or twist while holding up to 50 lbs in relation to the loading and unloading of supplies

Valid SK Class 5 Drivers License

Experience working for a First Nations community is an asset
