Social Studies Focus

October 13, 2026 to June 30, 2027

Temporary position replacing a leave of absence.

The Coordinator - Learning Services position will provide both leadership and support as part of a collaborative team. This position is responsible for guiding the implementation of social studies curricula, supporting educators in effective planning, instruction, and assessment, and ensuring access to high-quality resources.

Responsibilities will include

Providing District leadership for the implementation of the new Social Studies grade 7-9 curricula

Supporting District staff in planning, instruction, assessment, and accessing resources for Social Studies courses

Using data to identify areas of excellence and opportunities for improvement in district and school results in Social Studies

Coordinating and/or leading professional development experiences for staff

Collaboration with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Learning Services to infuse Indigenous connections and culture with the Social Studies curricula

Desirable qualifications

Solid instructional leadership capabilities

Successful teaching experience in grades 7-9 Social Studies will be considered an asset

Experience and interest in working collaboratively with colleagues to improve learning outcomes
