Nicholas Robinson Criminal Lawyer is a growing, Canada-wide criminal defence practice with a dynamic team of 11 people. We handle a broad range of criminal matters and are committed to strategic advocacy, strong client relationships, and high-quality legal work.

Role Description:

You have exceptional writing skills, are a published author, have experience drafting criminal applications, factums, briefs etc and have experience practicing criminal law. Your job will have many components but will be focused on drafting and preparing affidavits, charter applications, briefs of law, notices of appeal, factums and all manner of other criminal law related pleadings. In this capacity, you will assist the other lawyers in the firm.

You will have the opportunity to appear in court and perform a variety of other functions but the focus of your job will be on preparing written material and doing all the case law research and other work associated with that task. This is a full time, in-office position offering mentorship from Senior Counsel. You can expect compensation of between $130,000 and $150,000 per annum.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist Senior Counsel with case preparation and strategy




- Conduct legal research and draft high-quality legal materials (pleadings, briefs, correspondence, factums, charter applications, third party records applications, notices of appeal etc.)
- Attend court (in-person and virtual) for adjournments, bail matters, sentencings, and other appearances

Qualifications:

- Licensed and currently in good standing with either the Law Society of Ontario or the Law Society of Saskatchewan
- Strong legal writing and research skills (kindly have a writing sample available)
- Excellent oral advocacy and communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines independently
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Prior criminal law experience is a essential
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
