Project Manager (IT) – Intermediate

Duration: 12 months

Contract Period: October 19, 2026 – September 30, 2027

Extension: Maximum 12-month extension

Location: Edmonton, Alberta

Work Arrangement: Primarily remote; up to 15% onsite in Edmonton as required

Hours: 36.25 hours/week

Standard Hours: 8:15 AM – 4:30 PM Alberta Time, Monday to Friday

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Intermediate IT Project Manager to provide end-to-end project management, delivery oversight and coordination across multiple concurrent, high-priority technology initiatives.

The successful candidate will manage project planning, scheduling, governance, stakeholder engagement, vendor coordination, risk and issue management, reporting and transition activities.

The role will primarily support two major streams:

1. Cybersecurity Vulnerability Mitigation / Legacy Server Remediation
2. SharePoint Online Migration Management

The Project Manager will work with technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors, project sponsors and program leadership to maintain project momentum, manage dependencies and ensure successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage IT projects from initiation through completion.
- Develop project charters, business cases, project plans, schedules and other project documentation.
- Establish project objectives, scope, assumptions, timelines, resource requirements, risks, benefits and budgets.
- Manage multiple projects and resources concurrently.
- Coordinate project activities across multiple teams and organizations.
- Establish and maintain project schedules and work plans.
- Monitor project milestones, deliverables, resources, risks, issues and dependencies.
- Identify risks and issues and implement appropriate mitigation and corrective actions.
- Escalate significant project risks to program managers and project sponsors.
- Maintain effective relationships with business stakeholders, technical teams, vendors and project sponsors.
- Prepare project status reports, dashboards, briefing materials and governance documentation.
- Produce deliverables for steering committees, senior management and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate project dependencies and interdependencies.
- Support business requirements documentation and IT solution delivery.
- Provide recommendations regarding resources, dependencies, policy implications and project methodologies.
- Support change management and communication activities.
- Assess project outcomes and identify opportunities for future improvement.
- Work within established project management standards, controls and governance frameworks.




- Leverage Microsoft applications, collaboration tools and other relevant technologies to support reporting and communication.

Cybersecurity / Legacy Infrastructure Responsibilities The Project Manager will support cybersecurity vulnerability mitigation activities, including continued remediation of legacy infrastructure.

Responsibilities may include

- Coordinating legacy server remediation activities.
- Managing project schedules, dependencies and delivery risks.
- Coordinating technical teams and related projects.
- Supporting risk mitigation associated with aging and end-of-life infrastructure.
- Maintaining project governance and delivery oversight.
- Supporting cybersecurity-related project requirements and timelines.

SharePoint Migration Responsibilities The Project Manager will support the completion of remaining SharePoint migration activities, including:
- Coordinating SharePoint migrations and decommissioning activities.
- Supporting the delivery of remaining intranet migrations.
- Coordinating extranet migration activities.
- Managing dependencies involving legacy infrastructure and access requirements.
- Coordinating transition activities for business applications replacing legacy SharePoint customizations.
- Working with stakeholders to resolve ownership, migration and delivery issues.
- Monitoring project progress, risks, dependencies and timelines.

Mandatory Qualifications

Education / Experience

Candidates must meet at least one of the following:
- University graduation in Business, Management or a related discipline and 4 years of Project Management experience; OR
- Two-year diploma in Business, Management or a related discipline and 6 years of Project Management experience; OR
- One-year certificate in Business, Management or a related discipline and 7 years of Project Management experience; OR
- 8 years of Project Management experience.

Certification
- Active PMP or PGMP certification issued by the Project Management Institute or equivalent.

Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years developing project deliverables such as project charters, business cases, briefing notes, status reports, risk logs, project closures and dashboards.




- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a Project Management role.
- Minimum 4 years managing multiple projects concurrently.
- Minimum 3 years successfully implementing IT solutions involving project resources from multiple teams or organizations.
- Minimum 3 years working as a Project Manager on large, complex custom/in-house software application development projects in an environment of comparable size and complexity to a large government organization.
- Minimum 3 years working with information management and cybersecurity policies, directives and guidelines within time-sensitive environments.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- 3+ years coordinating dependencies and plans across related projects.
- 4+ years coordinating government and vendor-wide information management/IT initiatives.
- 5+ years leading and facilitating meetings with stakeholders at various levels.
- 3+ years leading change management and communication planning.
- 3+ years overseeing server and network infrastructure projects.
- 3+ years overseeing or implementing SharePoint migrations.
- 3+ years working in a Canadian public-sector organization of similar size and complexity.

Work Arrangement The position is primarily remote. The successful candidate may be required to attend meetings or work sessions in Edmonton with reasonable notice. Up to approximately 15% onsite attendance may be required.

All work must be performed within Canada .

The successful candidate is responsible for providing their own computer and required equipment. The computer operating system must be a up-to-date version of Windows, preferred for compatibility, or MacOS compatible with Azure Virtual Desktop and required remote-access software.

Other Requirements The successful candidate must:

- Successfully complete applicable security clearance requirements.
- Provide a current criminal record check.
- Complete mandatory training relating to privacy, access to information, cybersecurity/security, information management and workplace conduct.
- Comply with applicable project governance, security, privacy and information-management requirements.
