Job Title: Director of Operations

Status: Full-Time, Permanent

Location: Edmonton, AB

We are working with a long-standing client to find a dedicated and experienced Director of Operations, who will provide strategic leadership and oversight of the operational infrastructure, technology systems, administrative functions, and business processes. Working closely with the Partner Group and HR Manager, the Director of Operations will ensure the firm operates efficiently, scales effectively, and supports the achievement of strategic objectives while upholding the core values and culture.

What You Will Be Doing:

Strategic & Organizational Leadership

- Collaborate with the Partner Group to develop and execute the firm's strategic and operational plans.

- Translate organizational strategy into scalable policies, procedures, and operational frameworks.

- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational effectiveness and support informed decision-making.

- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, service delivery, employee experience, and profitability.

Operations Management

- Provide leadership and oversight of the firm's operational systems, processes, and administrative functions.

- Oversee the firm's ERP platform, including governance, workflow optimization, implementation of new features, training strategies, and data integrity.

- Oversee vendor relationships and negotiate service agreements to maximize value and operational effectiveness.

- Provide oversight and strategic direction for administrative functions, while supporting managers and team leads.

Compliance, Risk & Governance

- Ensure operational compliance with CPA Alberta requirements and other applicable regulatory, privacy, and professional standards.

- Develop and maintain operational controls, governance processes, and documentation standards.

- Oversee risk management practices relating to information security,



records management, business continuity, and operational compliance.

- Support HR and firm leadership in maintaining compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.

Technology & Digital Enablement

- Serve as the firm's primary operational liaison with external IT providers and technology partners.

- Develop and execute technology strategies that support operational efficiency, scalability, and security.

- Oversee technology implementations, software integrations, and process automation initiatives.

- Work with IT providers to ensure appropriate cybersecurity protocols, training programs, and compliance measures are maintained.

Leadership & Team Development

- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to operational and administrative team members.

- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

- Work closely with the HR Manager regarding organizational planning, workforce needs, employee development, and change management initiatives.

- Support leadership succession planning and organizational capability development.

- Collaborate with HR on employee engagement initiatives, team-building activities, and internal communications programs.

Business Development & Firm Initiatives

- Support the execution of firm-wide initiatives, special projects, and growth strategies.

- Provide operational support for client experience initiatives and process improvements.

- Oversee operational logistics for major firm events, training programs, annual meetings,



and client-facing initiatives in collaboration with HR and other stakeholders.

- Maintain oversight of the firm's website and digital presence, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and branding.

Who You Are:

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Commerce, Management, Finance, Operations, or a related discipline.

- Minimum 8-10 years of progressive leadership experience in operations management, business administration, or professional services management.

- Experience in a CPA firm, professional services environment, or regulated industry is strongly preferred.

- Demonstrated experience leading organizational change, process improvement, and technology implementation initiatives.

- Project management certification or formal project leadership experience is considered an asset.

- Robust understanding of professional services operations and business management principles.

- Knowledge of issues affecting CPA firms and the accounting profession.

- Experience with ERP systems, workflow management, and operational technology platforms.

- Exceptional leadership, coaching, and organizational development capabilities.

- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into execution.

- Strong project management and change management expertise.

- Advanced technology proficiency, including Microsoft 365, business applications, and data management systems.
