Scope and Context The role sits within the Artificial Intelligence, Data and Emerging Technologies Division , which uses a one-government approach to data governance, decision-making, and service delivery. The analyst will help implement the Government of Alberta Data Strategy , enabling better data access, collaboration, reduced duplication, and innovation across ministries. The position supports the Data Centre of Excellence by designing and delivering analytical data products and services, including dashboards, reports, KPIs, data models, and evidence for use across departments and with external stakeholders.hubmub+1

Key Duties

- Deliver business intelligence capabilities to support internal and external client needs.
- Develop data products based on various datasets.




- Analyze data and prepare results.
- Gather and document client requirements.
- Design and develop data products and semantic models.
- Capture business and technical metadata for data products.
- Perform data analysis, data-quality audits, statistical analysis, and data mining.
- Develop and share data models and products.
- Define baseline and ongoing outcomes, key results, metrics, and indicators.
- Provide insights that support decision-making and strategic planning.
- Integrate quantitative and qualitative data to create business insights.
- Design and create dashboards and custom reporting from various data sources.

Must-Have Experience
- Direct hands-on experience designing, developing, and optimizing advanced Power BI solutions for regulated and complex datasets.
- Direct hands-on experience with a comprehensive set of Power BI visualization techniques and storytelling features.
- Direct hands-on experience analyzing large, complex datasets for trend analysis, predictive analytics, and forecasting using Power BI and Azure analytics tools.
- Experience presenting and storytelling to effectively communicate data-driven insights to executives and business users in a government workplace.
- Experience understanding and developing requirements for analytical projects.

Nice-to-Have Experience
- Translating business requirements into analytical solutions and communicating findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Combining raw data from multiple sources within and across domains.
