Summary of Position The Human Resources (HR) Generalist is responsible for contributing to the development and delivery of HR policies, practices and programs to create a dynamic, engaging culture and work environment. The HR Generalist supports the achievement of business objectives through HR programs including, but not limited to, recruitment and selection, onboarding, training and development, compensation and advantages, disability management, workforce analytics and Occupational Health & Safety (OHS). This role supports the organization's commitment to maintaining a safe, healthy and compliant workplace through the administration of safety programs, incident management processes, regulatory compliance and employee wellness initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day HR guidance, interfacing with managers and employees to answer routine/common queries while understanding and utilizing existing HR policies, procedures and HR best practices to provide sound advice

Support the recruitment lifecycle – create job postings, screen resumes, pre-screen candidates, schedule interviews and coordinate reference checks

Complete all respective documentation and administration related to talent acquisition, offers of employment, compensation, benefits, employee changes, terminations and other aspects of HR

Support HR-related training sessions including new hire orientation and various HR programs and processes

Update SharePoint to ensure HR content and documents are posted and active on the internal webpage

Analyze HR metrics and trends to identify opportunities, recommend data-driven solutions and generate reports to support various stakeholders

Support the development, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) programs, policies, procedures and initiatives in accordance with applicable legislation and organizational requirements

Provide guidance and support to managers and employees regarding OHS responsibilities, workplace safety practices, incident reporting,



hazard identification and corrective actions

Coordinate and maintain OHS documentation, records, training completion, inspections, incident investigations and regulatory reporting requirements

Assist in the investigation of workplace incidents, injuries, near misses and safety concerns, ensuring appropriate documentation, root cause analysis and corrective action follow-up

Monitor legislative changes and emerging best practices related to workplace health and safety and make recommendations to ensure organizational compliance

Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) activities, including meeting coordination, documentation and follow-up on action items

Coordinate mandatory safety training, employee certifications and compliance tracking to ensure organizational adherence to legislative and operational requirements

Analyze workplace safety trends, incident data and absenteeism metrics to identify opportunities for risk reduction and continuous improvement

Other duties and projects as assigned

Adhere to ethical standards for HR professionals by modelling appropriate behaviour

Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes and tight timeline demands with multiple stakeholders

Respond to inquiries and concerns from employees at all levels of the organization with comfort, respect and empathy

Strong customer focus with ability to support/influence in a multi-site environment

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) are critical

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence when working closely with managers





Analytically minded with ability to learn quickly and adapt to new situations as they arise

Digitally savvy and embraces the use of technology in elevating HR strategies and programs to the next level

Ability to “think outside the box” and question existing tasks/methodologies with a view to improving overall processes and generate efficiencies

Qualifications

College diploma or university degree with major in Human Resources or related field

3-5 years in a Human Resource Generalist role

Working knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation, regulations and best practices

Experience supporting workplace incident investigations, hazard assessments and safety compliance initiatives preferred

CPHR designation an asset

Employment Requirements

Completion of a satisfactory criminal record check and/or Vulnerable Sector Search.
