GKC Architecture & Design is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Interior Design Technologist to join our design team on a full-time remote basis. The successful candidate will support the development and documentation of interior design projects from concept through construction documentation while working collaboratively with interior designers, architects, technologists, consultants, and project managers.

This role is well suited to an individual who has a strong understanding of interior design principles, architectural documentation, drafting, materials, and digital design tools and is looking to develop their technical and professional experience within a multidisciplinary design environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the preparation and development of interior design concepts, layouts, and design presentations.

Produce accurate 2D drawings, detailed floor plans, elevations, sections, reflected ceiling plans, and interior details.

Assist in preparing construction and permit documentation for interior design projects.

Develop and maintain drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or other applicable design software.

Assist with space planning, furniture layouts, millwork, finishes, fixtures, and material selections.

Prepare schedules for finishes, furniture, doors, fixtures, and other interior components.

Support the preparation of presentation boards, material boards, renderings, and client presentation materials.

Review drawings and documentation for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project requirements.

Coordinate interior design documentation with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and other consultant drawings.

Assist with researching building codes, accessibility requirements, materials, products, and applicable design standards.

Participate in project coordination meetings and incorporate feedback from senior designers and project managers.

Assist with revisions,



drawing updates, and document management throughout the project lifecycle.

Communicate effectively with project team members while working within a remote environment.

Perform other design and technical documentation duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Diploma or degree in Interior Design, Interior Design Technology, Architectural Technology, or a related field.

1–3 years of relevant experience in interior design, architectural drafting, or design documentation is preferred.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit.

Working knowledge of SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design and visualization software is an asset.

Understanding of interior construction methods, materials, finishes, millwork, and detailing.

Familiarity with Canadian building codes, accessibility standards, and construction documentation is an asset.

Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical drawings.

Good organizational, communication, and time-management skills.

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a remote multidisciplinary team.

Strong willingness to learn and take direction from senior designers and technologists.
