Working under the direction of the Program Manager, this role will support the successful management of high voltage construction projects within Western Canada, with the potential to include overhead and underground electrical construction work.

The Project

Manager will be accountable for planning, coordinating, executing, monitoring and closing assigned projects. This includes maintaining alignment with project estimates, budgets, schedules, labour and equipment plans, client requirements and internal reporting expectations.

Manager will also support the Program Manager by producing complete, accurate, supportable, and timely project information in accordance with the monthly reporting cycle and other established deadlines to assist with program-level decision making and forecasting.

Responsibilities

Use full-cycle project management skills to plan, execute, monitor and control assigned projects while reporting progress, cost, schedule, risk and resource updates to the Program Manager.

Manage day-to-day operational aspects of assigned projects, including scope, schedule, budget, labour, equipment and execution planning.

Create and execute project work plans and revise as necessary.

Prepare, coordinate and communicate project reviews and quality assurance procedures.

Ensure project files are complete, accurate, current, appropriately approved, and stored in accordance with company requirements.

Determine milestones, track revenue recognition, ensure timely and accurate invoicing, and monitor receivables for projects.

Provide regular project reporting to the Program Manager, including progress updates, cost-to-complete information, schedule impacts, risks, change orders and client or field issues requiring escalation.

Maintain an accurate and supportable project cost forecast, including actual costs, committed costs, remaining costs, contingency, pending changes, cost-to-complete, estimated final cost, expected revenue, and forecast margin.

Coordinate close out of project.





Pre-Construction activities on larger projects

Prepare and/or approve purchase orders and place orders according to predetermined schedules.

Ensure the timely procurement of required project material, tools and equipment.

Work with the Master Scheduler to proactively identify and address scheduling issues using forecast/predictive reports (i.e. excessively high/low utilization).

Communicate regularly with the Program Manager, Operations, Engineering, Estimating, Scheduling and field leadership to support effective project execution and reporting.

Frequently liaise with the Engineering & Distribution and Design Divisions to ensure accurate design build according to project specifications.

Provide stakeholder communication and formal reporting on project progress, milestone status, budget performance, schedule impacts and items requiring Program Manager review or support.

Develop and maintain positive skilled relationships with vendors and suppliers. Monitor, manage and negotiate the contracts and agreements to ensure reliable service and cost effectiveness.

Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Provide exceptional customer service to project clients

Negotiate within delegated authority, while material contractual, pricing, schedule, risk, liability, or margin changes must be escalated for approval.

Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum three (3) years of Project Management experience,



in the construction or related industry

Bachelor’s Degree/College Diploma, with a focus on Commerce or Project Management is required

High voltage industry experience is preferred A Project Management designation (e.g.

Project Management

Professional (PMP) designation), and/or completion of project management course work is preferred

Proficient use of Project Management Software (e.g., MS Project)

Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles, frameworks, implementation practices, accountability processes, and project lifecycle types

Risk management theory and techniques for measuring management project risk

Excellent planning, analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines

Ability to accurately and effectively manage and analyze large volumes of information

Ability to explain and defend decisions relating to assigned projects

Ability to maintain confidentiality and effectively deal with sensitive information

Strong client focus and the ability to work with employees at all levels

Knowledge of relevant design standards, industry accepted standards, codes, regulations and requirements

Ability to analyze and problem solve

Ability to learn and work in a Cloud-based Construction Management Software (e.g., Procore) and internal systems such as Sage

Knowledge of project management procedures, documentation, tools, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), with the ability to apply them effectively in a project environment.

Ability to interpret and apply project management guidelines, procedures, and governance requirements across a range of projects and organizational settings.
