Our client is seeking an experienced Reservoir Engineer specializing in unconventional resources to join their team in Kimberley . This role is focused on evaluating and optimizing the development of shale gas and tight oil plays. You will be responsible for detailed reservoir characterization, performance analysis, forecasting, and the development of field development plans to maximize recovery from these complex reservoirs.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with geoscientists, drilling engineers, and production teams to drive value from unconventional assets. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects within the South African energy landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct detailed reservoir studies for unconventional plays, integrating geological, petrophysical, and engineering data.
Develop and calibrate reservoir simulation models for unconventional reservoirs (e.g., fractured systems).
Analyze production data, decline curves, and well performance to forecast future production.
Identify and evaluate opportunities for infill drilling, stimulation optimization, and enhanced recovery techniques.
Perform economic evaluations and uncertainty analysis for reserve bookings.
Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to develop and execute integrated development plans.
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related discipline.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in reservoir engineering, with a strong focus on unconventional resources (shale oil/gas).
Proficiency in reservoir simulation software applicable to complex reservoirs.
Strong understanding of reservoir characterization techniques for unconventional plays.
Experience with production data analysis and forecasting methods.
