Position Summary Reporting to the Manager, Operational Risk, the Senior Operational Risk Analyst serves as a key risk partner within the COO organization, leading first-line operational risk management across the Bank’s products, services, processes, systems, third-party relationships, and client channels in accordance with established enterprise frameworks. The role escalates matters requiring second-line review, formal risk acceptance, or executive approval.

The role leads the execution and continuous improvement of first-line risk management practices, including RCSAs, issues management, operational loss events, KRIs, control effectiveness assessments, and remediation oversight through validated closure. Acting as a trusted advisor and effective challenger within the first line, the Senior Operational Risk Analyst advises business leaders, senior decision-makers, and governance forums on material risks, control gaps, risk treatment options, remediation priorities, and implementation readiness.

The position assesses alignment with regulatory requirements, internal policies, operational resilience objectives, and governance expectations; identifies material changes in operational risk exposure; and advises management on actions needed to support the Bank’s strategic objectives and operational effectiveness.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

- Lead first-line operational risk management across the COO organization, providing risk oversight for products, services, processes, systems, third-party relationships, and client channels in accordance with established enterprise frameworks, while escalating matters requiring second-line review, formal risk acceptance, or executive approval.
- Lead and facilitate Business Unit Risk Assessments, including RCSAs,



and Risk Mitigation Action Plans; assess inherent and residual risk, evaluate control design and operating effectiveness, and perform or coordinate risk-based testing of key controls using established methodologies.
- Provide effective challenge within the first line regarding business stakeholders’ risk assessments, control ratings, risk treatment recommendations, and remediation plans; document conclusions and escalate material concerns where treatment is insufficient or outside established risk appetite.
- Lead root cause analyses for significant operational incidents, evaluate corrective actions, and oversee remediation through validated closure, escalating delays or residual risks that exceed established tolerances.
- Provide operational risk advice and effective challenge within the first line for business initiatives, product and channel expansion, system changes, and material process improvements, identifying risk implications and recommending appropriate controls before implementation.
- Assess and advise on alignment with applicable regulatory, policy, and governance requirements, including OSFI, FCAC, AML/ATF, privacy, consumer protection, third-party risk, operational resilience, and business continuity expectations.
- Monitor regulatory developments and assess impacts of mortgage lending and servicing operations.
- Develop and interpret operational risk reporting, key risk indicators (KRIs), trend analyses, and regulatory issue tracking; maintain complete and accurate risk, control, issue, and operational loss inventories; identify material changes in risk exposure; and present actionable recommendations to management and governance forums.
- Coordinate operational risk support for internal audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory examinations, including preparing evidence and management responses, assessing findings, developing management action plans, validating remediation, and maintaining closure documentation.
- Facilitate training and guidance to stakeholders on operational risk and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications & Experience Degrees, Diplomas & Certifications:



A university degree or equivalent experience is required. A professional designation or certification in risk management, audit, compliance, business continuity, or financial services, such as CRM, CRMA, CIA, CISA, or CBCP, is preferred. Years and Range of Experience Required to Perform the Job:

- Minimum 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in banking, operational risk management, compliance, audit, or financial services, including experience independently leading complex risk assessments, providing effective challenge within the first line, and advising senior stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of mortgage lending, deposits, cards and/or related banking operations preferred.
- Strong knowledge of OSFI Guidelines (including B-20 and E-21), FCAC requirements, AML/ATF regulations, privacy legislation, and consumer protection obligations.
- Robust analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Prioritize multiple demands using effective time management skills.
- Demonstrates sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and personal accountability for progressing complex risk matters from identification through resolution.
- Experience supporting banking products and operations across areas such as mortgage lending, deposits, cards, servicing, and emerging channels is preferred.
- Works independently in complex and ambiguous situations, determines appropriate risk assessment approaches within established frameworks, and collaborates across teams to resolve issues requiring coordinated action.
- Bilingual candidates preferred.
