Senior SEO & GEO Strategist, Technical Accounts
About us: At Spin, recruitment is about more than filling roles; it’s about creating real human connections. We partner with leading U.S. companies to help them hire exceptional talent through a true direct-hire process, ensuring candidates join our clients’ teams directly while we support them throughout the journey.
About our partner: You'll join a growth agency built for buyers who fact-check you. They've driven over $1B in revenue across 70+ companies, largely in AI infrastructure and developer tools — categories where a vague claim gets caught in the first paragraph. Senior operators and AI agents work the accounts together, and every claim is verified against the page, the repo or the search result before it ships.
About the role: You'll own SEO and GEO end-to-end for these technical accounts — strategy, execution and QA. Site changes ship through GitHub pull requests, AI-search visibility is tracked weekly alongside Google rankings, and positioning has to survive founders and engineers, not just a content review. If you've spent years arguing for rigor at agencies that didn't want it, this is the opposite problem.
We need someone to own SEO and GEO end to end — strategy, execution and QA, including primary ownership of these technical accounts.
What You'll Own
- Technical SEO, hands-on. Full-site crawls, Search-Console-first audits (not third-party estimators), schema/JSON-LD design and repair, canonical and redirect hygiene, and catching structural regressions before or right after they ship — a broken static-generation config, orphaned or 404ing pages.
- GEO and AI-search visibility. Run and interpret the weekly AI-visibility tracker (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude) against a fixed buyer-question set. Diagnose why a brand is invisible — uncorroborated self-reported stats, wrong register,
missing verbatim phrasing — instead of just reporting the score.
- PR-based web execution. Ship directly into client codebases (Next.js, Astro and similar) via GitHub: metadata, internal links, FAQ and schema blocks, redirects and content fixes — scoped into small, reviewable PRs and verified against build output and live rendering.
- Positioning and competitive strategy. Run Dunford-style repositioning and JTBD analysis when a client’s story stops surviving scrutiny. Rebuild competitor sets from demand data instead of assumption, and verify every competitive claim by live-checking pricing and feature pages — never from memory.
- AI-agent oversight. Run Claude Code skills and multi-agent workflows as the primary production method, and be the one who catches the AI’s own mistakes: fabricated data, mislabeled findings, unverified claims, silently failed writes. You are the last check before a client sees anything.
- Client-facing judgment. Decide what’s a routine fix versus what needs client sign-off — sensitive findings, brand-risk claims, anything touching an unresolved investor or legal detail. Translate technical findings into plain language.
How We Work
- Sprints, not open lists. Work ships in scoped batches — a defined PR, a defined content plan, or a defined audit — each with a explicit “done.”
- Claude Code as the production line. Skills, subagent orchestration and reusable configs are how work gets done, not a side tool. You’ll run them, debug them, and fix the skill itself when the same error recurs.
- Live-verification discipline.
Every claim gets checked against the page, the repo or the search result before it ships. “I remember it as X” is not a source.
- Escalate, don’t downplay. Sensitive or high-stakes findings go to the client as a decision, not a footnote.
What You Bring
- 3+ years in technical SEO or SEO strategy for B2B SaaS, dev tools or another expert-buyer space.
- Comfortable in a codebase: you can read a git diff, open a pull request, and tell a regression from a false alarm.
- Hands-on with Claude Code (or an equivalent AI harness): skills, structured prompting, and reviewing AI-assisted output skeptically instead of trusting it.
- Working knowledge of schema/JSON-LD, canonicals, redirects and crawl-based auditing.
- Able to build and defend a competitive or positioning narrative from data, not assumption.
- Experience with GEO/AEO — what makes content citable in ChatGPT, Perplexity or AI Overviews.
- Familiarity with Next.js/Astro stacks, Vercel preview workflows and CMS platforms like Storyblok or Sanity.
- Notion-based client reporting. eCommerce SEO experience is a nice to have.
What Success Looks Like
- 30 days. Running the technical SEO and GEO cadence independently on your accounts; audits and PRs match current quality without escalation.
- 60 days. Owning the full positioning and competitive strategy loop for at least two accounts.
- 90 days. Ready to fully manage a set of five accounts.
Salary & Benefits
- Location: 100% remote, based in Canada.
- Salary: $7,000 – $7,500 USD per month.
- This is a full-time, long-term position, immediately available.
- Additional perks and benefits.
