We are seeking a Learning Support & Enrichment Teacher who will provide Learning Assistance Teacher (LAT) support while also bringing their own interests, skills, and creativity to our school community. This position will include Learning Support, along with opportunities to contribute in other areas of the school such as ADST, library, arts, music, technology, literacy, numeracy, land-based learning, outdoor learning, or other areas of interest and expertise.

The Learning Support & Enrichment Teacher works collaboratively with classroom teachers to support student learning, engagement, and success across the school. The position provides a flexible combination of individual and small-group instruction, classroom collaboration, targeted learning support, and enrichment opportunities.

The teacher will work with classroom teachers and school-based teams to identify and respond to student learning needs. They will support students through targeted instruction and intervention while also creating opportunities for students to explore their interests, develop new skills, and experience success beyond the traditional classroom program. This is a flexible position that allows the successful candidate to contribute their own strengths and interests to the school community.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:

- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or equivalent from a recognized institution and valid Yukon Teacher Certification or eligibility to obtain certification.
- Teaching experience in an elementary classroom with students demonstrating a wide range of achievement levels, abilities, learning profiles, and interests.
- Experience supporting students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Student Learning Plans (SLPs), Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs), or similar individualized support plans.
- Experience developing, implementing, monitoring, and/or supporting IEPs, SLPs, BSPs, and other individualized learning or behaviour plans.
- Experience providing individual and small-group instruction to support diverse learners.
- Experience using formal and informal assessment tools to identify student learning needs and monitor progress.
- Ability to analyze student learning information and use it to inform instructional decisions and intervention planning.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and differentiated instruction.
- Training and experience in trauma-responsive educational practices.
- Familiarity with the Neurosequential Model in Education (NME) and Ready to Learn practices, or willingness to develop knowledge in these areas.
- Demonstrated flexibility, initiative, and organizational skills to effectively respond to diverse and changing student needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive, respectful relationships with students, families, staff, and administrators.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers, Educational Assistants, school-based teams, and multidisciplinary professionals.
- Commitment to ongoing professional learning in inclusive education, trauma-responsive practices, evidence-based interventions, and culturally responsive education.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:

The following would be considered assets:

- Specialization, experience, or coursework in Special Education or Inclusive Education.




- Specialization or coursework in autism spectrum disorder and/or experience supporting neurodiverse learners.
- Training and experience with structured literacy approaches or programs such as Orton-Gillingham, Barton, Wilson, or Reading Rev.
- Experience with literacy and/or numeracy intervention.
- Experience with ADST, technology, coding, robotics, design, or other hands-on learning.
- Experience teaching music, visual arts, drama, or other creative arts.
- Experience with outdoor education, land-based learning, or experiential education.
- Proficiency with a variety of educational and assistive technologies.
- Experience developing enrichment programs, clubs, projects, or learning opportunities based on student interests.
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture, history, and aspirations of Yukon First Nations and a culturally diverse student population.
- Understanding of positive behaviour supports, preventative practices, resiliency frameworks, restorative approaches, and trauma-responsive care.
- Demonstrated ability to support Educational Assistants in implementing IEPs, BSPs, safety plans, accommodations, and instructional strategies.
- Experience collaborating with professionals such as counsellors, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and other members of multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, culturally responsive education, and decolonizing education, including learning that reflects Yukon First Nations ways of knowing, doing, and being.
- A willingness to bring personal interests, talents, and expertise to the broader school community.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

- Criminal Record/RCMP Check with Vulnerable Sector; to be provided before the first day of employment, dated no more than 3 months prior to your start date
- Yukon Teacher Certification; learn about the certification process here
- Yukon First Nations 101 , to be completed at your first chance.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

- To be a Teacher in Yukon, you must hold a Teacher Certification in another Canadian province/territory first;
- Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
