Artificial
Intelligence is transforming the world, and our team is advancing the field as it applies to the surveillance industry. We are proud to be industry leaders in video analytics with products like Appearance Search, Unusual Motion Detection, and our recently launched Avigilon Cloud Service platform.
You will be able to contribute to intelligent camera surveillance systems through cutting-edge research and software engineering.## Job DescriptionWe are seeking an Intermediate Software Developer experienced in development within on-premise or cloud development environments who can build product features primarily by directing AI coding agents through a plan-first, test-verified workflow — writing specs and plans, reviewing and steering agent output, and proving correctness through tests and verification, rather than hand-writing the bulk of the implementation.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience delivering complex, large-scale, public-facing applications and APIs. We are also seeking someone with solid knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, and test automation tools and concepts. This position is based in Vancouver, BC, and the candidate must reside in the Greater Vancouver area, as you will be required to go into the office on a hybrid work schedule.## *Responsibilities include: AI-Native Engineering + Turn a feature request into a plan (files that change, order of work, tests that prove it) that someone who wasn't in the conversation could execute. + Direct AI coding agents through implementation, staying accountable for the result as if hand-written — including the failing-test-first / fix-can't-edit-the-test discipline. + Translate product requirements into rigorous verification strategies, interpreting unit tests, mutation checks, and verdict-function results to deeply understand and validate system behavior. + Work concurrently across multiple agent sessions/worktrees when appropriate, reviewing multiple streams of in-flight work rather than one linear thread. + Contribute back to the shared skills/hooks/subagents library as patterns repeat. + Know the difference between "the agent said tests pass" and "I've verified this actually works," and never ship on the former alone.
- Key contributor within the team:
+ Designing, implementing, and supporting end-to-end software solutions for Unity Video products worldwide. + Building team trust,
mentoring peers, and helping drive the team toward high performance. + Contributing to build pipelines, containerization, DevOps tooling, and test automation strategies.
- Growing and training our software organization:
+ Fostering strong collaborative relationships with fellow developers and technical leadership + Proactively providing technical guidance and mentorship + Upholding rigorous standards for software development and quality, both personally and across the team* Consistently showing up with:
+ Energy and passion + Optimistic outlook + Transparent communication + Growth-oriented perspective## Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related 4+ years of professional software engineering experience building robust front-end architectures and rich UIs. While we are framework-agnostic (workflow matters more than language), a proven track record in client-side development is essential.
Hands-on experience directing AI coding agents to build real features with a large customer base.
Experience working in a large code base* Excellent written and oral communication skills* Experience implementing multi-layered testing strategies (unit, integration, and E2E) and comfort reading/writing test code even when an agent drafts the first pass.
- Judgment to know when to trust agent output and when to dig in — this is the core skill being hired for.*Nice to have:** Experience with streaming/media, video pipelines, or similarly verification-heavy domains.
Familiarity with git worktrees for parallel session workflows.
Prior contribution to internal tooling/conventions (skills, hooks, lint rules) rather than just consuming them.
- Knowledge of CI/CD, test automation, and DevOpsTarget Base Salary Range: $100,000 - 120,000 CADConsistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity.
Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
