Job Summary

The CNC Operator is responsible for the machining and assembly of electrical commutators used in industrial motors and generators. This role involves operating CNC equipment to produce precision components, assembling commutators, and ensuring all products meet strict quality and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities
Set up, operate, and adjust CNC machines used in commutator production (turning, slotting, undercutting, etc.)
Machine copper segments, risers, and related components to specified tolerances
Perform commutator assembly processes including pressing, bonding, and finishing
Read and interpret engineering drawings, job travelers, and process sheets
Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency
Inspect parts using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gauges)
Identify defects and ensure compliance with internal quality standards
Perform basic troubleshooting of CNC equipment and report major issues to maintenance
Maintain accurate production and quality records
Follow all company safety procedures and participate in continuous improvement initiatives




Maintain a clean and organized work area (5S standards)

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or machining training preferred
2+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing setting (preferred)
Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T; (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
Familiarity with CNC controls and basic G-code editing is an asset
