The UNE is an unregulated member of the collaborative health‑care team who provides patient centred care under the supervision of the RN or RPN.The nursing activities performed and the level of supervision required are determined by legislation, standards of supervision outlined by regulatory colleges, employer policy, educational preparation, practice setting, complexity of the patient, level of risk involved, and the UNE’s competency. In collaboration with the UNE, the RN or RPN at the point of care has the responsibility to make a reasonable and prudent UNE patient‑care assignment.The UNE is accountable for providing safe nursing care to patients in accordance with their formal nursing education preparation and competency. The UNE is responsible for seeking consultation and guidance. The UNE is excluded from employment in a practice setting during the period that the UNE is in a clinical placement as a student in that setting.The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. est un membre non accrédité de l’équipe de soins de santé qui fournit des soins centrés sur le patient sous la supervision d’un infirmier(ère) autorisé(e) ou d’un infirmier(ère) psychiatrique autorisé(e). Les tâches infirmières et le niveau de supervision requis dépendent de la législation, des normes de supervision des ordres professionnels, de la politique de l’employeur, de la préparation pédagogique, du milieu de pratique, de la complexité du patient, du niveau de risque, et de la compétence de l’infirmier(ère) prédiplômé(e). En collaboration avec cette dernière, l’infirmier(ère) autorisé(e) ou le infirmier(ère) psychiatrique autorisé(e) au point de service est chargé(e) d’établir une attribution de patients raisonnable et prudente. L’infirmier(ère) prédiplômé(e) est responsable de la sécurité des soins qu’il/elle fournit aux patients, conformément à sa préparation et à son apprentissage formel. Il/elle doit demander des conseils et avis, au besoin, et n’est pas autorisé(e) à travailler dans un milieu de pratique tant qu’il/elle n’est pas en stage clinique dans ce milieu.EducationCurrent enrollment in an approved nursing education program leading to initial entry to practice as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse.Successful completion of the third year or enrollment in the third year with a minimum of 450 hours of clinical practice in an approved nursing education program.In addition to the minimum of 450 hours, completion of a clinical placement in a medical/surgical or mental health setting is required to work in relevant patient‑care areas. Additional clinical practice hours and/or specific course completion from the approved nursing education program may be required to qualify for some patient‑care settings.Certification/Licensure/RegistrationRegistered student in accordance with the policies and procedures of the education institution at which they are enrolled in an approved nursing education program.Qualifications And SkillsProficiency in both official languages (English/French)
