We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Yard Labourer to join our team at our scrap metal recycling facility.

This is a hands-on, physically active position involving sorting, processing, handling, and moving various scrap metals and batteries. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, comfortable working outdoors, and experienced operating a forklift in a busy yard or industrial workplace.

Previous forklift operating experience is required for this position.

Responsibilities
Sort and separate various types and grades of scrap metal
Process and prepare metal for recycling
Assist customers with unloading scrap metal and other materials from their vehicles
Sort, handle, and stack automotive and industrial batteries onto pallets
Wrap and prepare battery skids for storage and shipment
Safely operate a forklift to move, load, unload, and organize materials
Load and unload trucks, trailers, bins, and customer vehicles
Move and organize materials throughout the yard
Keep work areas and the yard clean and organized
Identify and separate materials according to company procedures
Safely use hand tools and other yard equipment as required
Assist other yard staff with day-to-day operations as needed

Qualifications
Previous forklift operating experience is required




Experience working in a scrap yard, recycling facility, warehouse, construction, or similar industrial environment is an asset
Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the day
Comfortable lifting, carrying, pushing, and moving heavy materials
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Reliable, punctual, and ready to work at the start of each shift
Robust work ethic and willingness to learn
Safety-conscious and able to follow instructions
Able to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements

This position involves regular lifting, bending, standing, walking, and handling of heavy materials. Applicants must be comfortable working in a physically demanding, active industrial yard environment.

Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
