A part time animal research technician position is available jointly in the labs of Drs. Shannon Dunn and Chao Wang, Biological Sciences Platform at Sunnybrook Research Institute, Toronto.

Sunnybrook Research Institute is the research enterprise of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, a teaching hospital fully affiliated with the University of Toronto. Research spans three Toronto-based campuses, eight programs and three scientific platforms. Our main aims are to understand and prevent disease, and to develop treatments that enhance and extend life. Our vision is to invent the future of health care. Each year, we conduct about $100 million in research across 500,000 square feet, including in the world's first Centre for Research in Image-Guided Therapeutics.





The Dunn lab and Wang lab are both interested in developing treatments for brain disorders presenting with neuroimmune pathologies. They specialize in preclinical animal models of depression and multiple sclerosis. The successful applicant will focus on performing animal husbandry, colony management, and assist in related experiments.

Summary of Duties:
Animal husbandry (e.g. weaning, tagging mice)
Record keeping
Assist in maintaining preclinical models
Animal behavioral assessment
Collaborate with lab members on various projects
Immunohistochemistry
Flow cytometry
Primary Immune Culture

Qualifications:
Prior experience with mouse handling, tagging, and record keeping
Prior experience with small animal behavioral evaluation an asset
Experience with EthoVision software an asset
BSc. in biology or related field
Exceptional communication and organizational skills
Detail oriented and dependable individual capable of working independently
