About the Role Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Chemical Process Designer to join their team, with an emphasis on projects supporting operations in Kimberley . This role is pivotal in conceptualizing, developing, and detailing chemical processes for new installations and modifications. You will leverage your extensive design experience to create process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs;), and equipment specifications. This hybrid role combines strategic design work remotely with essential on-site collaboration for project reviews and client meetings. We are looking for a technically proficient and detail-oriented designer who can lead complex design projects and mentor junior team members.
Key Responsibilities Lead the conceptual and detailed design of chemical processes, including PFDs, P&IDs;, and equipment sizing.
Develop mass and energy balances, utility requirements, and control philosophies for various chemical processes.
Specify major process equipment, such as reactors, distillation columns, heat exchangers, and pumps.
Ensure design compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation) and operations personnel.
Review designs, provide technical guidance, and mentor junior process designers.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering .
Minimum of 8 years of experience in chemical process design, preferably within EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) environments.
Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and CAD tools for P&ID; development.
Strong understanding of chemical engineering principles, unit operations, and equipment design.
Experience with HAZOP studies and safety in design principles.
Excellent technical drawing, documentation, and communication skills.
