Reporting to the Director of Technology, this role keeps the server and infrastructure estate stable day to day while leading the technical side of the organization's modernization programme - cloud adoption, platform upgrades, and application and data migration. It suits a hands-on senior administrator who wants ownership of the environment rather than a narrow queue, and who is comfortable planning a cutover as well as running the platform afterwards.

Maintaining storage, backup and disaster recovery platforms, and keeping business continuity processes in place and tested
Administering Microsoft 365 and the cloud-connected services alongside it
Planning and carrying out infrastructure upgrades and hardware lifecycle management
Supporting Azure services across a hybrid estate - virtual machines, storage, networking and identity
Contributing to cloud migration planning and then implementing it, and monitoring and optimizing cloud consumption and cost
Leading the technical planning and execution of server, application and data migrations, including cutover and rollback plans
Moving workloads off legacy platforms onto current ones, and validating migrated data and systems before sign-off
Supporting ERP, application and wider infrastructure modernization initiatives
Applying infrastructure security practice: access control, privileged account management,
patch management and vulnerability remediation
Maintaining technical documentation and system architecture diagrams
Working alongside internal IT staff, vendors and project teams
Taking part in planned after-hours maintenance and upgrade windows as required
Qualifications and pre-requisites:
Minimum 7 years of IT infrastructure and server administration experience
Minimum 7 years managing Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy
Expert-level Azure: Entra ID, virtual machines, storage, networking and App Services
Experience with SSO, MFA, Conditional Access, RBAC and advanced security policies
Experience with VMware, Hyper-V or comparable virtualization technologies
Experience with backup, disaster recovery and business continuity technologies
Solid understanding of networking fundamentals
Demonstrated experience leading infrastructure, cloud and ERP migrations
Microsoft 365 administration experience
Automation experience with PowerShell, Azure CLI, Terraform or equivalent tooling
Experience supporting a cloud transformation initiative
Familiarity with VOIP telephony, label printers and bar code scanners
Sound understanding of IT service management, and of change and release management procedures
Able to analyze, evaluate and define needs, and to create and execute implementation test plans
Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational and time-management skills
Excellent communication, customer service and presentation skills, working well independently and as part of a team
Experience supporting manufacturing production environments is an asset
Knowledge of budget and vendor management is an asset
