Neighbourly Pharmacy is looking for a Full-Time Pharmacy Assistant to join our team at Lovell Drugs - KOPI Compounding Center in Kingston, Ontario.
Compensation listed is a starting point only and will be determined based on candidate experience.
Position Summary
The Compounding Pharmacy Assistant is in charge of offering top-notch client service in a polite, informed, and professional way. In addition to focusing on achieving pharmacy excellence in the areas of customer service, workflow efficiency, and inventory control, the compounding pharmacy Assistant is required to perform compounding activities including sterile and hazardous compound preparation, following all safety protocols in our state of the art facility. The Assistant is responsible for performing specific dispensing functions as outlined by provincial regulations and standards of practice.
Responsibilities
Dispensing
Perform specialty compounding activities, preparing products according to master formulas
Adhere to all compounding Standard Operating Procedures as maintained by the compounding supervisor
Adhere to all safety and cleaning precautions and procedures to avoid exposure and contamination risk with Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs)
Receive a written prescription from customers
Locate the medication, select the prescription container, and count/pour the medication
Attach the label to the prescription container
Ensure that the original container, prescription container contents, and label are checked and initialized by the pharmacist
Regularly phone customers for unclaimed prescriptions
Pharmacy Operations
Perform other tasks as outlined by the pharmacy manager or staff pharmacists. To include:
Keep all areas of the pharmacy clean, neat, and professional
Maintain adequate stock of pharmacy supplies
Answer the pharmacy telephone, except for the doctor's line, which should be answered by a pharmacist
All doctors' calls and inquiries regarding prescriptions, copies,
drug information, and poisons must be referred to a pharmacist
Assist with third-party billing
Set up a schedule for outdated pharmaceuticals
Assist with inventory control
Assist with checking off and putting away pharmaceutical orders
Maintain stocks of pamphlets/consumer information
Maintain OTC/non-prescription sections, as designated
Other duties as required
Qualifications
Preference will be given to those who have retail Pharmacy experience
Kroll experience is an asset
Skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Able to work independently and have experience multi-tasking
Qualified attitude and ability to communicate well with customers and co-workers
Due to this position's sensitive nature, the successful candidate must complete a Criminal Record Check
Schedule
Monday to Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
