Principal Systems Engineer – Integrated Bridge and Navigation System Lockheed Martin Canada Inc. (Lockheed Martin) is the leading combat systems integrator (CSI) specializing in advanced large-scale integration projects in Canada. We leverage advanced engineering practices and modern technologies to design, develop, and integrate combat systems for warships. We are looking for motivated, high-performing individuals with specific skills to join our agile Naval Programs team. The Naval Programs team is responsible for technical planning, design, construction, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analysis, sustainability analysis, and overall system effectiveness. As part of overall system product development, involvement includes: design, manufacturing, testing, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal. The team ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into overall system solutions that consider technical, financial, and temporal constraints. The Naval Programs team is present at Lockheed Martin's main project locations in Canada (Kanata, Montreal, Dartmouth); job opportunities are available at all these locations to support naval combat system programs and proposal capture activities. As a Systems Engineer and member of the Naval Development team working in a multidisciplinary team environment, the candidate participates in the full engineering lifecycle including specification, design, development, integration and testing, deployment, maintenance, and field troubleshooting related to large-scale and highly complex naval platform systems. The candidate will participate in engineering activities such as:

Collaborate on Integrated Bridge and Navigation System design activities with the Principal Systems Engineer and other engineering personnel, such as supporting technical reviews

Perform needs analyses

Conduct market studies

Review requirements, their assignment, and market studies

Analyze navigation sensor data from the supplier, including, but not limited to, interface information, technical specifications, and technical drawings

Perform rapid analysis to prove concepts: line of sight, cable length restrictions, lever arm calculations, ship data calculations, ship reference point calculations

Define and track technical performance measures

Work on system architecture and design

Plan system integration

Create design document

Apply system engineering processes and best practices.

Required skills, abilities and experience

The incumbent must have a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university in software, electrical, electronic, hardware, systems or mechanical engineering, or a related discipline





Relevant professional experience of at least five years. Any equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered

Experience in the software, systems, hardware or maintenance engineering lifecycle

Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel in the engineering and management team as well as with personnel assigned to related tasks.

High degree of initiative and autonomy

High learning ability

Ability to adapt and perform in a dynamic environment

Good knowledge of SysML or other object-oriented design methods

Valuable knowledge of DOORS (Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System), Rhapsody, Clearcase, Clearquest or Windchill

Experience with Agile methods

Experience in the military naval domain

Experience in change management, requirements management, testing and trials, security, safety, electromagnetic interference, electromagnetic compatibility, or environmental qualification.

Language requirements in Quebec
Knowledge of English is required for this position so that the candidate can perform all of their duties. The position described in this job offer requires the candidate to communicate daily with a virtual team outside Quebec. The candidate will also need to communicate with various members of the organization, clients, and suppliers located outside Canada. For engineering positions, the candidate will also need to be able to read or modify technical documents from our main clients and write technical documents for these same clients.
