Canada Pump & Power is seeking experienced Marine Equipment Operators with professional, hands-on experience operating boats, barges, dredges, and other industrial marine equipment .
This is not a recreational boating position.
We are specifically looking for candidates who have operated marine equipment as part of their employment in an industrial, commercial, construction, dredging, marine, or similar work environment.
Before You Apply
To be considered for this position, you MUST have:
Valid Marine Emergency Duties A3 (MED A3)
Valid Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP)
Professional experience operating marine equipment for work
Experience operating boats, barges, dredges, or comparable commercial/industrial marine equipment
Minimum 3 years of relevant marine equipment operating experience
Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
Ability to work long day and/or night shifts of up to 12 hours
Both MED A3 AND SVOP are mandatory requirements. Candidates who do not currently hold both certifications will not be considered.
Recreational boating experience, personal watercraft experience, or experience operating a personal boat does not meet the professional marine operating experience requirement for this position.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Marine Equipment Operator with Canada Pump & Power, you will work as part of our field operations team supporting industrial marine projects.
Responsibilities include:
Professionally operate boats, barges, dredges, and other marine equipment as required by the project
Safely maneuver and position marine equipment in active work environments
Follow CPP Safe Work Policies, Procedures, and Practices
Work within company, client, site, and regulatory requirements
Complete Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRAs)
Identify, report,
and assist in correcting hazards, incidents, and near misses
Participate in Job Hazard Assessments/Analyses (JHAs)
Complete required equipment and operational documentation
Work effectively with CPP employees, clients, contractors, and subcontractors
Assist with other operational duties as required by the project or supervisor
Required Qualifications
Applicants must meet all of the following minimum requirements:
Marine Emergency Duties A3 (MED A3) – REQUIRED
Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP) – REQUIRED
Minimum 3 years of professional/work-related experience operating marine equipment
Demonstrated experience with boats, barges, dredges, or similar marine equipment
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Class 5 Driver's License
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Minimum 18 years of age
Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment screening
Ability to obtain a Criminal Record Check
Ability to successfully complete CPP and site-specific orientations and training
Work Setting & Physical Requirements
This is a hands-on field position. Candidates must be comfortable:
Working around water and active industrial marine operations
Working in wet, noisy, and changing weather conditions
Working day and/or night shifts up to 12 hours
Navigating uneven surfaces, equipment, and obstacles
Lifting and moving loads up to approximately 20 kg
Working as part of a safety-sensitive industrial operation

Relevant experience includes professional operation of equipment such as:
Commercial/industrial work boats
Barges
Dredges
Crew boats
Utility/work vessels
Other comparable marine equipment used as part of paid employment
