Hours: 35 hours per week
Shift: Tuesday to Saturday; shift times will vary
Start Date: As soon as possible
Salary: $67,000 - $69,500 per year

Nature and Scope:

The Fitness Supervisor is responsible for developing and delivering high-quality fitness programs that align with YMCA standards, creating diverse schedules and initiatives to engage members of all fitness levels. This role provides leadership to Personal Trainers and Volunteers through recruitment, training, and coordination of schedules, ensuring smooth operations and strong team communication. Additionally, the Fitness Supervisor upholds safety protocols, fosters positive member relationships, and collaborates with the Member Experience Team to enhance satisfaction and retention.
Major Responsibilities: in this position, you will:
Ensure the delivery of high-quality fitness programs that meet YMCA standards and support member engagement across a range of fitness levels and abilities.
Recruit, train, support, and recognize group fitness volunteers to maintain a diverse and engaging group fitness schedule.
Hire, onboard, and manage Personal Trainers,
oversee personal training program delivery, support revenue growth, and manage personal training payroll.
Ensure the safety of participants, staff, and property by adhering to YMCA health and safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
Oversee the fitness floor and equipment, ensuring functionality and cleanliness, reporting issues to Facilities, and recommending equipment improvements or additions.
Partner with the Member Experience Team to implement The Y Way, deliver “Moments That Matter,” build robust member relationships, and address concerns or conflicts.
Act as Duty Staff as required, providing operational oversight, resolving customer issues, and offering confident leadership to frontline teams.
Qualifications- you bring:
Minimum three years supervisory experience
Minimum five years’ experience in fitness/health and wellness environments
Current YMCA Group Fitness Instructor Certification or equivalent
Personal Training Certification an asset
Experience training and supervising staff and volunteer teams
Experience instructing Group Fitness classes
Proven knowledge in the areas of exercise science, nutrition, choreography, and fitness trends
Current Standard First Aid and CPR‐C & AED certificate
Post-Secondary education or degree in a Physical Education or related field an asset
Successful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory references
Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record check with a Vulnerable sector search issued no later than six (6) months preceding the start date.
