Join our St. Michael’s Hospital team as we work to put patients and families at the center of everything we do, in the role of Physiotherapist on our Heart, Lung and Vascular Program.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary role of a physiotherapist is to assess, diagnose within scope, and analyze the impact of injury, disease, disorders, environment factors or lifestyle on movement and function. Physiotherapists promote physical activity and overall health at any stage of life when movement and function are threatened. They prevent and rehabilitate disease, injury, and disability, and manage and improve acute and chronic conditions, activity limitations, participation restrictions and physical performance through intervention and education.

Provides Physiotherapy services for inpatients admitted to Cardiac/Vascular, Cardiology and CVICU/CICU within Heart, Lung and Vascular Program, as well as commitment in MSICU, General Surgery and Nephrology. Hours of work are split between all of the units listed. Works effectively as a member of an interprofessional team,



collaborating with other disciplines to provide comprehensive patient care

Provides patient care in accordance with all professional and organizational standards

Is committed to providing anti oppressive and accessible care for all patients

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be currently licensed by and in positive standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (CPO) for practice in all applicable clinical areas

Must hold a Master’s Degree (or substantial equivalent) in Physiotherapy

Current BLS (or willingness to complete within probationary period)

As required by the program,



must be rostered (or willing to roster prior to the end of the probationary period) with the CPO to perform the following activity: Administering a Substance by Inhalation

1-2 years experience in acute medical or surgical unit, and ICU is preferred

Experience working with Cardiovascular/Cardiology patient population is preferred

Rostered for oxygen titration and tracheal suctioning is preferred

Excellent communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skills

Proven flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Excellent time management, organizational and prioritization skills as relates to patient care

Demonstrated advocacy, commitment to and involvement with profession preferred (e.g. involvement with professional association, representation on relevant committees)
