The Nova Scotia Public Works is recruiting Spare Winter Equipment Operators for multiple locations. This role demands expertise in snow clearing and heavy equipment operation.
Approved candidates will embark on two weeks of paid training to enhance their skills in snow and ice control. Post-training, participants will gain 45 hours of practical plowing experience under expert supervision. This spare role lacks guaranteed hours but offers exciting opportunities for overtime and consistent pay.
Key Responsibilities:
• Operate plows and graders for snow removal tasks
• Perform inspections and maintenance on equipment
• Keep accurate daily logs and reports
• Assist with road traffic control and repairs
• Maintain high safety standards in operations
Requirements:
• Minimum two years of experience or suitable education
• Class III license with air brake endorsement required
• Mechanical skills are beneficial
• Solid documentation skills for compliance
• Flexibility to work in various weather conditions
