Reporting to the SurgicalProgram Director, and working collaboratively in the wound program with theclinical team, and patients, the wound nurse is a role implemented to supportwound care across the organization. The nurse is responsible for providingsupport, treatment recommendations and follow-up care on identifiedcomplex/problematic wounds and ostomies. Functions of the role may includeconsultation, direct patient care, and education and mentorship. The nurse isresponsible to ensure best practice standards are followed and best possiblewound care is provided to patients across the organization.

Position Requirements:

Minimum of 3-yearmedical surgical nursing experience

BScN, orNursing Diploma with relevant experience and advanced education in wound care

Registeredwith the College of Nurses of Ontario

Experience andcomfort with meeting and building relationships with clinical teams

Strongunderstanding of evidence-based practice

Ability toread and understand clinical protocols

Comprehensiveknowledge of standards of practice and professional guidelines set forth by theCollege of Nurses and Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Canada(NSWOCC), International Interprofessional Wound Care Course (IIWCC)

CANcertification credential WOCC(C) Wound, ostomy, continence or InternationalInterprofessional Wound Care Course (IIWCC)

C ertifiedpreferred-or willingness to obtain certification

A willingnessto participate in further education programs/courses to remain current (YearlyWounds Canada Institute Conference)

Proven abilityfor self-directed leadership and program development

Demonstratedability to develop program-print and computer-based resources and program datacollection

Projectmanagement and health care education teaching experience

Strong oraland written skills,



including the ability to create and deliver effectivepresentations

Provenstrength in working in a collaborative model with the interdisciplinary team

Technologicallyliterate with strong computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Word,

Excellentinterpersonal skills, including the ability to facilitate communication betweenprimary care physicians, specialists, community partners, and the health care team; and the capacity toprofessionally interact with individualsin person and by telephone, facilitating a positive work culture

Advancedorganizational skills and time management skills

Ability towork in a busy workplace with concurrent demands and tight deadlines.

Must maintainregular attendance at work.

Must have theability to meet the physical demands of the role.

Startingsalary of $41.15/hour; $80,242.50/year (As per Step 1 of the ONA collectiveagreement.) range to 58.98/hour; $115,011.00/year (As per Step 8 of the ONAcollective agreement.)

Option to enroll into Healthcare of Ontario PensionPlan.

PositionResponsibilities:

Performa detailed holistic assessment of clients with wound, ostomy or continencerelated concerns.

Formulatetreatment recommendations in collaboration with the interprofessional team, anddevelop a plan of care

Initiateand formulate treatment plan for wound patients





Provideeducation and mentorship to team members

Providewound consultation to care providers within the organization

Demonstrateknowledge and understanding of common wound etiology and wound standard of care

Directand evaluate nursing care provided to patients with wounds

Coordinateand lead weekly wound team rounds-measurements, care plan reviews, treatmentrecommendations, physician orders, required documentation

Evaluatesupply needs and update as required

Monitorchanges in regulations and best practice standards

Performyearly wound prevalence across the Surgical, Medical programs

Reviewand update wound program, protocols and related documents

Reviewwound care related incidents and provide suggestion/recommendations
