Overview
We are currently seeking a Structural Engineering Graduate to join our Transportation Structures team. Our team specializes in the critical infrastructure that keep a community moving and connected, providing preliminary and detailed design for Bridges and Culverts on projects with the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and local municipalities.
This is a new position and is based at our Kingston or Ottawa offices. We offer flexible work hours and hybrid work arrangement options to help balance the competing demands of work and personal life.

Responsibilities
Technical Work
Assistance to project managers with structural and multi-disciplinary projects
Assistance in the preparation of structural designs including:
building, bridge, culvert, and marine design
engineering studies
technical specifications
design calculations
Completion of design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completion
Assistance with site investigations and condition assessments
Assistance with contract administration tasks including construction observation, shop drawing review, contractor submittal review, progress payment preparation, and responding to requests for information
Completion of the review of safe work practices and performing risk assessments for employee tasks
Collaboration with multidisciplinary team members
Contribution to business development activities including client need research, preparation of project proposals and presentations
Contributions to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees
Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request
Participation in the Early Career Development program

Qualifications
A degree in civil or structural engineering. A Master’s degree in structural engineering will be considered an asset.
One to two years’ work experience with exposure to consulting is considered an asset, however, new graduates will be considered
Experience
Knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial engineering standards and regulatory requirements
Knowledge of industry standards, specifications, and good engineering practices
Understanding of the range of project design and implementation activities including development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering, and contract administration
Working knowledge of current AutoCAD and Civil 3D software will be considered an asset
Working Knowledge of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CSA S6) and experience working on bridge structures is considered an asset
Strong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills
Compensation $57,000 - $85,000At Dillon, we believe in transparency. The following salary range is what we expect to offer for this position. It will be dependent on the successful applicant’s education, experience, and skills, in addition to internal equity and geographic region. Dillon reserves the right to pay outside of the posted range,
contingent on factors unrelated to an applicant’s gender or other status protected by provincial and/or federal law.
