ES Fashion Design Studio is a Canadian-owned, full-service technical apparel studio based in Downtown Vancouver. For over a decade, we have partnered with emerging designers, independent brands, and established labels to transform creative concepts into high-quality, production-ready garments. Our work spans streetwear, outerwear, activewear, swimwear, performance apparel, leather garments, luxury fashion, uniforms, and film and television costume fabrication, delivered with precision, craftsmanship, and a deep commitment to technical excellence.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Seamstress / Sample Maker to join our growing studio on a flexible, ongoing contract basis.

You will work directly with our team on a variety of sampling, product development, production, and costume fabrication projects. The work can range from straightforward garment construction to more technical and complex pieces, so adaptability and strong sewing fundamentals are important.

Key Responsibilities

- Construct garment samples and prototypes from patterns
- Sew, assemble, hem, finish, and alter garments
- Assemble and construct individual garment components
- Work with a variety of fabrics, including woven, knit, stretch, technical, and specialty materials
- Operate industrial sewing machines and specialized equipment
- Follow patterns, construction instructions, and technical specifications
- Perform quality checks throughout the construction process
- Identify construction issues and provide practical solutions
- Support apparel production and film/TV costume fabrication projects




- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work workplace

Requirements

- 5+ years of experience as a seamstress, sample maker, tailor, garment technician, or similar role
- Proficiency with industrial sewing machines
- Comfortable working with different fabric types and garment constructions
- Strong understanding of garment assembly and finishing techniques
- Excellent attention to detail and quality
- Ability to follow patterns and technical instructions accurately
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Reliable, organized, and able to meet production deadlines
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn
- Professional and respectful approach to working with confidential client projects
- Valid WorkSafeBC registration or ability to obtain Personal Optional Protection (POP) coverage before starting

Strong Assets

- Experience making samples or prototypes
- Experience with technical apparel or outerwear
- Experience working with stretch, performance, or technical fabrics
- Experience with leather or specialty materials
- Pattern-making knowledge
- Experience in film and television costume fabrication
- Experience operating specialized industrial sewing equipment
