CroJack Capital Group
Quebec City
CroJack is a privately held group operating across North America and as of 2026 Europe. The group is a private, relationship-driven inventory solutions company connecting leading consumer brands with a curated network of vetted buyers worldwide.
We currently operate four active entities across Canada and the U.S., Barbados, with a UK entity and a Malta entity coming online. Books are maintained in Canadian and U.S. dollars, consolidated in USD, with GBP and EUR reporting added as the European structure goes live. The business is intercompany-heavy by design: capital and trade flows move between entities continuously. The group operates in English across every jurisdiction, including with its overseas partners.
This is a build role, not a maintenance role. The accounting function is being professionalized at the same time the group is expanding internationally, and the Controller is the person who owns that build.
The Role
The Controller owns the accounting close, the consolidation, and the integrity of the numbers across every entity in the group. You will be the senior accounting authority in-house, reporting to the CEO.
The work sits at the intersection of three things that rarely show up together: modern finance technology, multientity and multi-currency consolidation and treasury, and physical cross-border trade. If you have done all three, this role is built for you.
What You’ll Own
Close, Consolidation, and Reporting
Own the monthly close across all group entities — Canadian, U.S., Barbados, and European — and deliver a consolidated reporting package on a predictable calendar
Produce consolidated financial statements in USD, with currency translation performed against a published, internationally recognized rate source and a documented, defensible FX policy
Prepare entity-level and consolidated P&L;, balance sheet, and cash flow, with variance commentary the CEO can act on
Build and maintain the close checklist, cutoff procedures, and supporting schedules so the close is repeatable and does not depend on any one person
Intercompany
Own intercompany reconciliation across all entities: loans, capital contributions, management fees, expense allocations, and trade balances
Establish standing intercompany settlement and elimination procedures so balances tie at the entity level, not just at rollup
Investigate and clear legacy intercompany variances, and design the controls that keep new ones from forming
Support transfer pricing documentation as the European entities come online
International Trade and Landed Cost
Own landed cost accounting end to end: FOB cost, freight, duty, tariffs, and brokerage
Manage accounting for supplier prepayments and deposits with overseas manufacturing partners, including vendor credit balances and open PO exposure
Account for letters of credit, trade finance instruments, and supplier payment terms across currencies
Work with customs brokers and freight forwarders on classification, duty recovery,
and tariff exposure; monitor changes in trade policy that affect margin
Own customer deposit accounting and the associated liability schedules
Treasury, Cash, and FX
Maintain the weekly consolidated cash flow model across all entities and currencies, and turn it into a forwardlooking view the CEO uses to make decisions
Manage the operating credit facility — availability, covenant tracking, borrowing base, and lender reporting
Own FX exposure and the group FX policy: an internationally recognized rate standard, rate setting for the model, translation versus transaction gain/loss, and practical hedging recommendations where exposure warrants it
Manage banking relationships and multi-currency account structures across jurisdictions
Compliance and Tax
Own Canadian indirect tax compliance, including GST/HST and Quebec QST registration, filing, and input tax credit and ITR recovery
Quarterback the annual income tax process across every jurisdiction — the group's external CPA firm prepares and files; you own the supporting schedules, tie-outs, information requests, and the calendar that keeps them on time
Support U.S. state and indirect filing obligations for the American entities
Prepare for UK VAT filing as the UK entity goes live, and support Malta and Barbados compliance requirements
Own the annual audit or review file preparation and be the primary internal contact for external accountants, tax advisors, and auditors
Financial Systems, Automation, and Reporting Intelligence
Owns and evolves CroJack's financial technology stack — the general ledger, the integrations that feed it, and the reporting layer built on top of it. This role is expected to engineer the manual preparation out of the accounting function and keep the judgment inside it: fewer hand-built schedules, more validated data moving on its own, and dashboards leadership actually opens between closes.
Own the financial systems architecture end to end — GL, AP and expense automation, payroll, banking and FX feeds, and the integrations connecting them — including the decisions about what gets added, replaced, or retired
Own the general ledger environment and chart of accounts across the group; enforce a single, consistent COA as new entities are added
Identify recurring manual preparation across the close and systematically automate it, so month-end effort falls as entity count rises
Build and maintain executive dashboards that give the CEO and ownership entity-level and consolidated visibility on demand, rather than waiting on a close package
Establish the data integrity controls that make automation trustworthy: validation rules, exception reporting,
and reconciliation checks that catch a bad feed before it reaches a statement
Play a lead role in financial tech stack selection and implementation, migrating as needed onto platforms that support true multi-entity, multi-currency consolidation, and set the integration standard every downstream system has to meet
Oversee payroll accounting across Canadian, U.S., and European payroll platforms, and design the accounting side of payroll for new jurisdictions
Build documented procedures for AP, AR, inventory, and close so the function scales without adding headcount linearly
Evaluate emerging finance tooling — including AI-assisted workflows — with a explicit-eyed view of what genuinely removes work versus what adds a subscription
The stack should do the preparation. The Controller owns the judgment.
Team
Support and develop the accounting staff as the team grows
Serve as the internal point of contact for the outsourced accounting partner, holding the line on quality and turnaround
Translate financial results into plain language for a non-accounting leadership team and ownership group
What We're Looking For
Required
CPA designation (Ordre des CPA du Québec, or CPA Canada with Quebec recognition), or an equivalent international designation recognized in Quebec
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years at a Controller or Assistant Controller level
Demonstrated multi-entity consolidation experience — you have personally owned a consolidation, not just contributed schedules to one
Multi-currency accounting experience, including translation methodology, FX gain/loss treatment, and consolidating entities with different functional currencies
International trade or import/export accounting experience — landed cost, duty and tariff treatment, customs documentation, incoterms, and inventory costing on imported goods
Intercompany accounting experience across jurisdictions: loans, allocations, settlements, and eliminations
Canadian compliance fluency: GST/HST and QST filing, CRA and Revenu Québec correspondence, and preparing clean, tie-out-ready support for external tax advisors
Systems-forward — you have personally selected, implemented, or rebuilt a finance tech stack, and can point to close time or headcount you took out of the process, not just software you bought
Advanced Excel — you build models, not just fill in templates
The judgment and directness to tell ownership when a number is wrong, and the documentation to back it up
Strongly Preferred
Consumer products, toy, apparel, CPG, or another physical-goods importing business
UK or EU experience — VAT, statutory filing requirements, or entity setup
ERP implementation experience, particularly a migration from small-business accounting software to a true multi-entity platform
Licensing or royalty accounting
Experience in an owner-operated or founder-led company, where the Controller is expected to solve problems rather than escalating them
