THE PROSPECT
We are currentlyinviting applications from legal assistants with a minimum of 1year of legal experience who are eager to grow, take ownership, and build theirskills within the litigation department in our Edmonton office.
This role primarily supportsa partner whose practice centers on bankruptcy, insolvency, and commercial litigation,as well as providing support to other associates and paralegals within thedepartment. The successful candidate will be confident, organized,
and flexible— someone who is equally comfortable taking direction and showing initiative,and who thrives in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment. A willingnessto learn and a positive, professional attitude are essential; prior experiencein insolvency is considered an asset.
Our positions offercompetitive compensation based on qualifications and experience.
Hours of work are 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Open, draft, maintain and prepare avariety of legal documents including briefs, factums, court documents and insolvencyapplications and related materials
Prepare detailed notices, reports,and packages for all necessary parties, entering complete file progress onapplicable systems, including filing material with the courts
Prepare pre-trial and trial documentsincluding maintenance of all trial binders and limitation tracking
Coordinate and schedule applications,questionings, and meetings, and maintain calendars
Preparation of accounts and timeentry
General administrative tasksincluding data entry, photocopying, and scanning, and file management
Respond to daily inquiries fromlawyers, legal assistants, and clients
Other duties as assigned

Receptive to direction and able to act on instructionsaccurately and promptly
Demonstrates initiative and the confidence to flagissues or seek clarification proactively
Ability to work well within a fast-paced environmentunder tight deadlines
Familiarity with litigation procedures and courtprocesses; prior exposure to insolvency is an asset but it not required
Experience with court filings
Strong organizational skills
Strong interpersonal skills and professional manners inclient and court-facing communications
Reliable and accountable
Has excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to work independently as well as within ateam environment
TECHNICAL ASSETS
Must have working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Outlook,Teams
Working knowledge of iPro or other Litigation softwarean asset
ACUMIN knowledge an asset
Net Documents knowledge an asset
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Graduate of an accredited legal assistant or paralegalprogram, or equivalent practical experience
Direct litigation experience is an asset; candidateswith a strong academic background and a demonstrated eagerness to learnare equally encouraged to apply.
