About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer with specialized expertise in the mining and resources sector to join their team in Kimberley . This role is critical for providing expert geotechnical advice and solutions for open-pit and underground mining operations, tailings management facilities, and associated infrastructure. You will be responsible for assessing ground stability, designing support systems, managing geotechnical risks, and ensuring the safety and efficiency of mining activities. Key Responsibilities

- Perform detailed geotechnical assessments for mine planning, including slope stability analysis, pit design, and underground support.
- Design and manage the construction of tailings storage facilities and waste rock dumps.
- Conduct geotechnical risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for mining operations.
- Oversee drilling programs and geotechnical data acquisition in challenging mining environments.
- Provide expert technical guidance on ground control, dewatering, and foundation design for mine infrastructure.
- Collaborate with mining engineers, geologists,



and environmental scientists to integrate geotechnical considerations into mine development.

Requirements

- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Mining Engineering with a geotechnical focus.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a significant portion dedicated to the mining and resources sector.
- Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA.
- Demonstrated expertise in geotechnical software for slope stability, seepage analysis, and mine design.
- In-depth knowledge of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and the behavior of materials in mining contexts.
- Experience with tailings management design and regulatory compliance.
- Robust analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in remote mining locations.
