Position Summary
We are seeking a caring, experienced, and supportive individual to provide additional behavioural and developmental support within our school-age programming. This position is well suited to an individual with experience in behavioural support, child and youth work, educational assistance, developmental services, special education, or a related field. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with educators and the leadership team to support children’s participation, inclusion, safety, and success within the program.

The position is particularly suited to someone who is comfortable supporting children

who may require additional assistance with self-regulation, transitions, communication,

social interactions, emotional regulation, or other behavioural and developmental needs.

Provide individualized and responsive support to children within the school-age

program.

Responsibilities

Support children during morning and afternoon transitions and program routines.

Assist children in developing and using appropriate strategies for self-regulation and emotional regulation.

Provide proactive behavioural support using positive, respectful, and child-centred approaches.

Support children’s participation in play, recreational activities, routines, and social interactions.

Recognize potential triggers and use preventative strategies to reduce challenging situations.

Follow individualized strategies,



support plans, and recommendations provided by the child care team and appropriate professionals, where applicable.

Work collaboratively with Registered Early Childhood Educators, Child and Youth Workers, Educational Assistants, families, and centre leadership as appropriate.

Maintain appropriate supervision of children at all times and follow all child care, safety, and emergency procedures.

Support an inclusive environment where children with varying abilities and needs can participate meaningfully in the program.

Document relevant observations and communicate information to the appropriate supervisor or educator.

Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy and dignity of children and families.

Follow all YWCA Cambridge policies and procedures and applicable requirements under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 (CCEYA) and associated regulations.

Requirements

Registered with College of Early Childhood Educators and in good standing (RECE)

The ideal candidate will have education, training, or experience in one or more of the following areas: Educational Assistant (EA), Child and Youth Worker (CYW), Behavioural Science / Behavioural Support, Developmental Services, Social Service Special Education Early Childhood Education, Psychology or a related discipline

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Excellent oral and written communication skills with children, parents/guardians, outside agencies, co-workers.

Relevant experience working with children who require additional behavioural developmental, social-emotional, or educational support will be considered an asset.

Note: This is a school-year position,



operating only on regular school instructional days.

The regular schedule is: Morning: 7:15 a.m. – 8:15 a.m, Afternoon: 2:45 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

The position does not operate on weekends, statutory holidays, school holidays,

qualified activity days, or other days when the school is not in session, unless

otherwise required and communicated by the employer.

This position is for an existing vacancy.

Pay: $27.86-$34.50 per hour
