Job Summary

Bourgault Industries is looking for a skilled, detail-oriented team member to join our R&D; team as an R&D; Weld Fabricator. The purpose of this position is to produce quality weldments that conforms to Engineered specifications and quality requirements. To ensure that parts being used in the making of welded components are conforming by using approved methods of joining parts in a weldment and use established methods of inspection and reporting. To provide feedback to Engineering on possible improvements to drawing specifications such as dimensions, tolerances and the overall design in order to best achieve an efficiently produced and quality part in the production environment

Nte: This position is currently available to INTERNAL APPLICANTS (current employees) only.

Responsibilities

- Superior weld fabrication capabilities – both for new fabrication as well as repair. Assembly capabilities are also required.
- Grinding and torching skills
- Operation of Front End equipment such as press, saw, drills, belt grinder
- Mechanical aptitude and operation of all assembly related tools and processes
- Operation of inspection related tools
- Ability to provide verbal and written feedback
- Creative mind and ability to think beyond just the fabrication/assembly of the part, but also the intent of part and how it would fit into the production setting
- Ability to travel to prototype machines for repair and updates




- 3A license or higher is an asset – Class 5 with clean record is a must
- Certified for forklift and overhead crane use
- Knowledge of farming is an asset

Secondary Responsibilities: During peak periods:
- To produce quality front end components that conforms to the engineered specifications.
- To assemble and/or test prototype components and machines.
- To assist the Tooling group in fabricating fixtures and jigs.

Required Skills/Experience

- Strong welding skills required – both for new fabrication and repair (minimum of 5 years of welding experience is preferred)
- Mechanical aptitude and experience with all assembly-related tools and processes
- Effective organizational skills
- Highly accurate with good attention to detail
- Able to troubleshoot problems and recommend/implement solutions
- Able to think creatively, beyond just the fabrication of a part, but to the intent of the part and how it would fit into the production environment
- Effective teamwork & communication skills
- Self-directed and comfortable working independently the majority of the time.
- Familiar with Bourgault products
- Farming knowledge is an asset
