We are seeking an experienced Tunnelling and Trenchless Delivery Lead to provide technical and operational leadership across complex underground infrastructure projects. This role will oversee the planning, development and delivery of tunnelling and trenchless works, ensuring that projects are completed safely, efficiently, to the required quality standards and in line with programme and budget expectations. You will work across the full project lifecycle, from early-stage constructability and methodology development through procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.

Key responsibilities will include leading the development of tunnelling and trenchless delivery strategies; reviewing ground conditions, construction methods, temporary works and technical risks; coordinating design, engineering, site and commercial teams; and managing interfaces with clients, contractors, utilities, regulators and other stakeholders. You will provide expert input into feasibility studies, tenders, work packages and construction programmes, while monitoring progress and resolving technical or delivery issues. The role will also involve supporting risk management,



cost control, change management, quality assurance, environmental compliance and health and safety, with a strong focus on continuous improvement and lessons learned.

Applicants should have substantial experience delivering tunnelling, microtunnelling, pipe jacking, horizontal directional drilling or other trenchless infrastructure projects, ideally within major civil engineering, utilities, transport, water or energy programmes. A relevant degree or skilled qualification in civil engineering, construction, geotechnical engineering or a related discipline is preferred, together with strong knowledge of tunnelling methods, ground risk, temporary works, construction planning and contract delivery. You will be a confident leader and communicator, capable of influencing at all levels and building effective relationships across multidisciplinary teams.

Strong commercial awareness, sound decision-making skills and a proactive approach to safety, quality and sustainable delivery are essential.
