Stuart Olson Industrial Projects is currently seeking experienced Powerline Technicians to support transmission and distribution projects across Northern Alberta This role offers competitive compensation, travel support, opportunities for career growth, and the chance to work alongside highly skilled industry professionals.

Candidates must be willing to join the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) or already be a member of an affiliated IBEW organization.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground transmission and distribution power systems.
- Work on wood poles, steel poles, lattice structures, anchors, conductors, transformers, switches, insulators, and related infrastructure.
- Install, maintain, and operate high-voltage electrical equipment and disconnect switches.
- Perform conductor stringing, sagging, splicing, grounding, and termination activities.
- Complete inspections, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on electrical distribution systems.
- Work safely in accordance with utility, client, and company procedures.
- Mentor apprentices and junior employees while promoting safe work practices.
- Participate in job planning, hazard assessments, and safety meetings.
- Maintain accurate field documentation and reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Journeyperson Powerline Technician / Power Lineman Certificate.




- Interprovincial Red Seal endorsement preferred
- Experience working on transmission and distribution systems.
- Strong understanding of utility construction, maintenance, and repair practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License (Class 1 or 3 considered an asset).
- Solid commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Ability to work in remote locations and travel as required

Working Conditions

- Working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Working at heights and in proximity to energized equipment.
- Physically demanding work including climbing, lifting, pulling, and carrying material and tools.
- Travel to remote project locations.
- Shift work and rotational schedules may be required.
