Role Summary

Valley Mechanical Inc. is a trusted industry leader known for its expertise in industrial, commercial, and process piping services, turnkey installations, and high-pressure piping. We are seeking a licensed Plumber or Steamfitter Journeyperson to install, assemble, maintain, and repair piping systems at customer job sites throughout the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding regions. The successful candidate will read drawings and specifications, plan piping layouts, complete field measurements, work safely and efficiently, and deliver high-quality installations that meet project requirements and applicable codes.

Key Responsibilities

Piping Installation & Service

- Install, assemble, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial, commercial, and process piping systems.
- Lay out piping routes and determine the sequence of installation by reading blueprints, plans, working drawings, specifications, and installation diagrams.
- Measure, cut, thread, groove, bend, fit, join, and install piping, valves, fittings, supports, and related equipment using appropriate tools and joining methods.
- Perform field take-offs, verify dimensions, and maintain accurate jobsite material inventories.
- Test piping systems, identify deficiencies, and complete repairs or adjustments as required.

Project Planning & Coordination

- Plan daily work, identify required labour, materials, tools, and equipment, and communicate requirements to the appropriate project contact.
- Coordinate work with crew, forepersons, project management, customers, and site representatives.
- Support apprentices and other crew members by providing clear direction and sharing trade knowledge.
- Track labour hours and material usage and promptly report progress, delays, deficiencies, or changing site conditions.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

- Complete all work in accordance with company procedures, project specifications, applicable provincial and local codes, and customer site requirements.
- Participate in daily hazard assessments, toolbox talks,



safety meetings, and equipment inspections.
- Inspect work in progress and completed installations to confirm quality and conformance with drawings, specifications, and applicable requirements.
- Identify hazards, correct unsafe conditions, and stop work when necessary.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe, clean, and serviceable condition.

Documentation & Communication

- Complete required jobsite documentation, including daily logs, time records, material requisitions, T&M; tickets, RFIs, incident reports, inspection forms, and other project paperwork.
- Maintain clear, skilled communication with crew members, supervisors, customers, and site contacts.
- Accurately report completed work, material needs, field changes, and outstanding issues.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.

What You Bring

Required:

- Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a Plumber (306A) or Steamfitter (307A), in good standing.
- Journeyperson-level experience in industrial, commercial, institutional, or process piping work.
- Strong knowledge of piping systems, materials, fittings, supports, joining methods, installation practices, and applicable codes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, specifications, schematics, and welding process requirements.
- Ability to perform field measurements, pipe layout, material take-offs, and basic trade calculations accurately.
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence with a clean driving record and reliable transportation to job sites.
- Clear verbal and written English communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in active construction and industrial environments.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting and carrying materials, climbing, bending, crouching, and working from ladders or elevated work areas.

Preferred:





- Experience with high-pressure steam, hydronic, process, stainless-steel, or carbon-steel piping systems.
- Experience in pipe rigging, hoisting, brazing, soldering, threading, grooving, or welding-related field work.
- Current safety certifications relevant to industrial construction, such as Working at Heights, WHMIS, and elevated work platform training.
- Experience mentoring apprentices or coordinating small crews.

Working Conditions

- This is a field-based role; work is completed at customer job sites rather than in a fabrication shop.
- Regular travel throughout the GTA and surrounding areas is required.
- Work may take place indoors or outdoors and may involve noise, dust, varying temperatures, confined areas, and elevated work locations.
