We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Interior Designer & Architectural Drafter to join our growing team. We are looking for someone who is more than just a drafter or designer. This position is ideal for someone who combines strong interior design skills with practical architectural drafting and construction documentation experience.

The successful candidate will work closely with our construction, purchasing, estimating, and project management teams to develop designs and drawings that are both visually appealing and practical to construct.

Position Overview

The Interior Designer & Architectural Drafter will be responsible for preparing and coordinating architectural and interior design drawings for residential and multi-family projects.

The role will involve taking projects from initial concepts through detailed drawings, material selections, revisions, and construction documentation. The successful candidate must understand how design decisions affect construction costs, timelines, materials, and field execution.

This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced construction environment and can manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Key ResponsibilitiesArchitectural Drafting & Construction Drawings

- Prepare detailed architectural drawings, floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction details.
- Develop and revise residential and multi-family construction drawings based on project requirements.
- Prepare detailed drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar drafting software.
- Review architectural drawings for accuracy, completeness, dimensions, and constructability.
- Incorporate revisions from project managers, construction teams, consultants, and management.
- Prepare drawings and details for permit, construction, pricing, and internal coordination purposes.
- Assist with preparation and maintenance of drawing sets and project documentation.
- Ensure drawings are properly organized, dated, and version controlled.
- Review plans against actual construction requirements and identify potential conflicts before construction.

Interior Design

- Develop interior design concepts for new homes, multi-family units, show homes, and development projects.
- Prepare interior layouts, finish plans, cabinetry layouts, kitchen designs, bathroom layouts, lighting concepts, and material selections.
- Select and coordinate flooring, tile, paint colours, countertops, cabinetry, plumbing fixtures, lighting, hardware, doors, and other interior finishes.
- Develop finish schedules and specifications.
- Prepare presentation materials, mood boards, material boards, and design packages where required.
- Coordinate design selections with the Purchasing Department to ensure materials are available,



competitively priced, and suitable for construction.
- Assist in developing standardized interior design packages and specifications for different home models and project types.
- Ensure designs meet budget, construction, functionality, and market requirements.

Construction & Project Coordination

- Work closely with Site Supervisors, Project Managers, Estimators, Purchasing, and subcontractors.
- Review drawings and design details with construction teams to ensure proper execution.
- Assist with resolving design and drawing-related issues during construction.
- Participate in project meetings and provide design/drafting support.
- Conduct site visits when required to verify field conditions and dimensions.
- Coordinate design changes and ensure updated drawings are distributed to the appropriate teams.
- Assist estimating and purchasing teams by providing accurate quantities, dimensions, specifications, and drawings.
- Identify opportunities to improve design efficiency, construction methods, material utilization, and project costs.

Required Qualifications & Experience

- Diploma or degree in Interior Design, Architectural Technology, Architectural Drafting, or a related field.
- 2–5+ years of relevant experience in interior design, architectural drafting, residential construction, or a combination of these.
- Strong understanding of Canadian residential construction and construction documentation.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
- Experience with Revit, SketchUp, Chief Architect, or similar software is an asset.
- Experience reading and interpreting architectural and construction drawings.
- Strong knowledge of residential floor plans, elevations, sections, dimensions, materials, and construction details.
- Understanding of Manitoba/Canadian residential building practices and construction standards.
- Strong knowledge of interior finishes, cabinetry, kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, tile, lighting, and fixtures.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

- AutoCAD and Revit.
- Bluebeam.
- Buildertrend or similar construction management software.
- Working directly with contractors, trades, suppliers, and construction teams.
- Canadian construction industry experience.
