Job Description:

The Electrical Designer will design electrical schematics and control panel layouts for custom automation equipment using AutoCAD Electrical. This role covers cabinet design, terminal block layouts, wiring diagrams, and panel thermal management in compliance with North American electrical standards. The position spans the full project lifecycle—concept through commissioning—working closely with multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams on complex automation projects.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Design electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical for custom automation equipment.
- Create control panel layouts, cabinet designs, terminal block layouts, and wiring diagrams meeting project requirements.
- Design electrical systems for custom automated equipment, ensuring functionality, reliability, and maintainability.
- Size and specify panel thermal management systems (cooling fans, AC units) for heat dissipation and component protection.
- Ensure designs comply with North American electrical standards and industry regulations.




- Generate accurate BOMs and supporting documentation for manufacturing, integration, and commissioning.
- Collaborate with mechanical designers, controls engineers, project managers, and manufacturing teams on integrated system designs.
- Support troubleshooting and implement design modifications during manufacturing, assembly, and commissioning.
- Participate in design reviews, providing input to improve performance and manufacturability.
- Identify opportunities to standardize designs and improve processes.
- Manage multiple custom automation projects simultaneously, adapting to unique customer specs.
- Resolve technical issues with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely delivery.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

- 3–5 years of experience in electrical design, with a focus on industrial automation and custom machinery across a variety of sectors.
- Experience designing electrical systems for complex, custom-built machinery, automated manufacturing equipment, and integrated control systems.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, including the development of detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts, and machine documentation.
- Hands-on experience with control panels, electrical cabinets,



terminal blocks, wire management, component selection, and thermal management, including fan and A/C sizing.
- Strong knowledge of North American electrical codes and standards, with the ability to produce accurate BOMs, schematics, drawings, and comprehensive technical documentation.
- Experience with PLC-based control systems and programming is preferred, with an understanding of how electrical design integrates with machine controls and automation.
- Experience supporting the complete project lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through manufacturing, installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
- Solid technical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose electrical issues and implement design modifications during manufacturing and commissioning.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, controls, and project teams in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on robust designs, design quality, and accurate, compliant engineering documentation.

Pay: $31.00-$41.00 per hour
