We are looking for an energetic, self-motivated, self-organized and reliable individual to work with Tyus and join his team. This sweet guy has Autism Spectrum Disorder and is non-verbal.

This will be a part time casual labour position where we will be hiring either:

- two candidates for 15-20 hours per week most weeks, or
- one individual for 36 hours per week most weeks

Work days are Monday to Friday, with statutory holidays off. We are looking for long term employees that plan to work with us for several years. This isn’t just a seasonal job. Training is provided to set you up for success.

Job Description:

As a Disability Support Worker, you will work directly with Tyus, a 22 year old non-verbal, non-violent Autistic young man, helping him to achieve his goals, increase his independence, and ensuring his safety. You will also be working with his parents in coordinating his weekly schedule. This job requires flexibility, energy, good communication skills, patience, and dependability. You will play a crucial role in helping Tyus in his day to day activities. You’ll also have a lot of fun spending time with this smiley, gentle guy.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ideal candidates have a background in disabilities, or relevant experience.



Other candidates that would be considered are post-secondary students studying education, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, recreational therapy, child youth and family, psychology, education assistant, speech pathology assistant, etc. Training is provided.

Requirements for employment:

- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Need to produce a clean criminal record check, and vulnerable sector check.
- Must be able to work in a home with other people.

Responsibilities include:

- Assisting with daily living tasks and basic personal care (prompting for showers, toileting, getting dressed, etc.)
- Monitoring overall well being and supporting accordingly
- Basic meal prep (slicing, reheating, etc.) and assisting Tyus to clean up after meals and activities
- Encouraging and participating in physical activity such as walking, bike riding, rollerblading
- Helping with his basic household chores and tasks (laundry, emptying the dishwasher, etc)
- Coordinating and transporting Tyus to and from community events and activities and supervising

Pay: $20.24 per hour

Expected hours: 15.0 – 36.0 per week
