PURPOSE:
The Estimator provides detailed cost estimates for a variety of projects for tender and construction management. These estimates will include; interpreting and determining project scope, comprehensive and detailed costing of equipment and material requirements, schedule recommendations to achieve an acceptable margin and providing the best chance to secure the business.





We are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to cover a 16-month maternity leave.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Apply technical experience to interpret documentation, specifications, and design drawings
- Prepare estimates and schedules including coordinating sub-trade invitations and estimates, preparation of contract documents and schedules
- Evaluate, assess, and address situational factors such as complexities, conditions and trends
- Assist in the development of estimating plan to establish strategies for job tendering
- Effectively analyze construction benchmarks and historical costs
- Identifies potential risks, opportunities, and alternative solutions
- Participate in presentation of estimates and proposals to clients
- Perform material take-offs and systematically estimate costs involving fabrication, manufacturing and construction projects
- Perform quality checks on estimates to ensure accuracy
- Attend and participate in site-visits, pre-bid meetings and post-bid meetings as required
- Interface with and provide on-going technical support to Project Management Team
- Track and record tender information regarding projects rewarded and rejected for continuous improvement and history tracking

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or commerce
- Preference will be given to professional members of APEGA
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Technically proficient in Microsoft Project/Primavera software
- 1-3 years of estimating experience preferred
