POSITION SUMMARY:

Located in Markham and reporting to the Director of Operations, the Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of manufacturing and operational activities. This IN-OFFICE hands-on role provides leadership to employees across production, planning and purchasing, shipping and receiving, repair, and quality assurance. The Operations Manager oversees daily activities related to staffing, work priorities, production scheduling, resource allocation, purchasing, and the resolution of operational issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

People Leadership

- Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to salaried, hourly, and temporary employees across operational departments.
- Establish work priorities, assign resources, and adjust staffing to meet changing production requirements.
- Set clear performance expectations and provide employees with regular feedback, coaching, and support.
- Conduct performance reviews and address performance and workplace concerns in a fair and timely manner.
- Support employee development through onboarding, training, cross-training, and opportunities for increased responsibility.
- Build a collaborative and accountable work environment focused on safety, quality, productivity, and customer commitments.

Operational Management

- Oversee daily production and operational activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality and delivery requirements.
- Make timely operational decisions to address production constraints, material shortages, supplier delays, staffing requirements, and competing priorities.
- Monitor production schedules, customer backlog, material availability, labour capacity,



and delivery performance.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Sales, Quality, and other departments to resolve issues affecting production or customer requirements.
- Ensure engineering documentation and required materials are available to support production and delivery schedules.
- Escalate significant risks and matters requiring strategic or financial direction to the Director of Operations.

Purchasing and Inventory

- Oversee purchasing activities and review material requirements to support production needs.
- Work with suppliers and internal teams to address shortages, delivery concerns, and changing priorities.
- Monitor inventory accuracy, excess inventory, annual physical counts, and inventory turns.
- Identify opportunities to improve material availability and inventory performance.

Quality, Safety and Continuous Improvement

- Support compliance with CSA requirements, ISO 9001:2015, occupational health and safety legislation, and internal quality procedures.
- Oversee the 5S program and participate as a member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
- Monitor operational performance indicators, including production efficiency, delivery performance, quality findings, engineering drawing accuracy, and inventory measures.
- Investigate operational and quality issues,



determine appropriate actions, and ensure timely follow-through.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

- University Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is a MUST.
- Experience in a manufacturing, operations, engineering, supply chain, or other technical workplace is an asset.
- Exposure to production planning, purchasing, inventory control, quality systems, and employee supervision is beneficial

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND COMPETIENCIES

- Strong technical aptitude, leadership potential, and an interest in developing a career in operations management.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, bills of materials, production information, and operational data.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations or another ERP system is an asset.
- Ability to organize competing priorities and make sound decisions in a changing production workplace.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to provide direction and hold employees accountable.
- A practical, hands-on leadership style with a commitment to safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
