About the Role

We are hiring a Senior Accountant / Controller to own and operate the financial close. This is an accounting-focused role: a contract bookkeeper already handles the day-to-day transactional work, and this person will step in as the senior lead responsible for turning that work into an accurate, timely, well-reviewed close each month. Detailed documentation of current procedures will be provided, and the successful candidate will work from an established process rather than building one from scratch.

The bookkeeper currently manages accounts payable, the first pass at payroll, and Float transaction processing (receipt capture, matching, and allocation), and will take on cash transactions and HST as well. This role sits above that work, owning revenue bookkeeping, cost of goods sold, major vendor spend allocation, and the review and reporting that follows.

Key Responsibilities

- Own and operate the monthly financial close from end to end
- Manage revenue bookkeeping, including COGS calculations and allocation of major vendor spend
- Review the P&L; and balance sheet each month and resolve discrepancies before reporting
- Report close results and financial performance to management
- Troubleshoot accounting and process issues as they arise
- Direct and review work from the contract bookkeeper (AP, payroll first pass,



Float transactions, cash, and HST)
- Work within the existing tech stack and documented procedures, refining them where useful
- Treasury management

Tech Stack

Rillet (ERP), Rippling (payroll), Float and Ramp (cards and bill pay), Sphere (VAT compliance), and Claude, which is used across the finance function to connect and support these systems.

Must-Have Requirements

- CPA designation
- Prior experience as a controller or in a similar senior accounting role
- Comfortable and confident using Claude and other AI tools as part of daily work
- Experience with a B2B invoicing revenue model

Preferred Qualifications

- IFRS experience
- Understanding of the AI industry and its pricing models
- Experience with B2C subscription-model bookkeeping is an asset

Schedule

Hours are adaptable rather than fixed. Expect roughly 20 hours per week on average, concentrated around month-end close, with extra time needed during initial onboarding to absorb existing documentation and processes.
