Job Title – Delivery Driver & Nursery Crew Member.

Company Description: Green Thumb Nurseries is a local multi-generational family owned wholesale nursery. Focused on quality plant & tree production, sales, service and delivery across Vancouver Island. Serving the landscape, commercial, municipal and retail garden centre communities since 1959. Under Green Thumb ownership, additional sites include a retail garden centre and two production farms. We are in growth mode, continuing to elevate & expand our operations.

Job & Scope: We are seeking a delivery driver that would work some shifts delivering plant material to our customers on Vancouver Island. And during non-driving time help out in the Nursery performing labor tasks. The variety and scope of this work will vary week to week.

This role is best suited for an individual that enjoys an outdoor and dynamic work environment with varied work responsibilities throughout the week.

Taking direction from multiple supervisors and being open to changing work duties will be important to be successful in this role.

Reports to: Sales & Service Manager & Crew Supervisors

Driver Key Accountabilities & Tasks

- On-time delivery of product.
- Provide customer service, pro-actively communicating with the customer on any delays or issues.
- Represent the Green Thumb brand while on the road.
- Daily vehicle checks
- Maintain truck cleanliness
- Fueling vehicles after use
- Loading and unloading trucks.
- Organizing loading Dock.
- Check-in’s with Supervisors

Nursery Labor Key Accountabilities & Tasks:

- Potting
- Field work
- Pruning, Weeding, spacing, staking
- Fertilizing
- Moving plant material
- Equipment operation (hand and mobile)
- Additional duties as required

Qualifications and Requirements





- Outstanding customer service skills required to build client relationships.
- Strong time management skills.
- Great work ethic and positive attitude.
- Working knowledge and experience with mobile GPS.
- Ability to work independently and in teams
- Ability to problem solve and provide solutions.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects 50+ LBS
- Ability to work flexible hours, early starts are common for deliveries.
- Ability to drive the vehicle safely in accordance with all traffic regulations.
- Minimum Drivers Licence: Class 5
- Clean CVOR and Driver’s Abstract
- Mechanical aptitude considered an asset
- Air brakes endorsed considered an asset.

Compensation and Benefits

- Starting at $22 per hour based on experience.
- 2 weeks paid vacation.

Schedule

- Monday to Friday.
- Working hours will vary day to day based on business needs. Early starts are common for deliveries, ie 6am.
- Nursery labor hours vs Driving hours will vary week to week depending on business needs.
