Summary of Position:

This is a hybrid position requiring a mix of office/administration work and facility upkeep work.

The person appointed to this position will be responsible for coordinating and preparing for events, bookings and programs, at the Cochrane & District Agricultural Society (CDAS). This position shall also be responsible for a variety of facility maintenance tasks, which may include any combination of the following: mowing, trimming, weeding, watering, fence repairs, arena grooming, building maintenance, small construction jobs, movement and storage of various equipment.

The person chosen for the position must also provide superlative service to CDAS members, passholders and commercial customers as well as training and assisting co-workers.

This is an agricultural facility, so comfort around animals, especially horses, cattle and dogs, is a must.

Responsibilities

- Assist with web, social media, and newsletter content.
- Assist the General Manager and Board of Directors in planning and coordinating CDAS events and programs like Horse Shows, Gymkhana’s, Barrel Races, Tack Sales, various clinics etc.
- Speak with clientele, users, and online contacts.
- Manage the CDAS phone line up to 2 days a week and during General Manager vacation.
- Assist the General Manager in coordinating and preparing for commercial bookings.
- Manage bookings and riding calendars when required.
- Cleaning and maintenance of all Park Facilities including: groundskeeping, facility maintenance and repair, and garbage cleanup.
- Grooming of the arena(s).
- Keep equipment storage neat, clean and organized.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and inform manager when additional supplies are needed including but not limited to fuel, shavings and water.




- Keep the entire property free of litter and other trash.
- Conduct routine “rounds” of the grounds enforcing all grounds rules and ensuring entire grounds and facilities are operational and safe for people and animals.
- Ensure that all safety, health and fire regulations are followed.
- Filing of Incident Reports, completing and submitting time sheets, maintaining Maintenance Records for equipment.
- Ability to work as part of a Team and the ability to lead, motivate and supervise others.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritise workload.
- Assist with event set-up and teardowns.
- Some paperwork, filing and bookkeeping.

Qualifications

- Must be able to communicate clearly with other staff, customers and Board members.
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Operate and maintain a variety of power and hand tools.
- Must be comfortable working around horses, cattle and dogs.
- Valid drivers license.
- Basic skills with Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
- Basic skills with Canva or similar design program is a benefit.
- Good knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, and other Social Media Platforms considered an asset.
- Ability to operate and maintain tractor, skidsteer, grooming equipment, lawnmower, weed whacker, and side-by-side considered a benefit (training will be provided).

Other Details:

Schedule flexibility is both a requirement and benefit of the position. Although a regular weekly schedule will be followed, due to the operating hours of the facility and nature of our rentals/events, there will be some need for early mornings, later evenings, and weekend work.

Pay: $22.50-$27.50 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
