A division of Pattison Food Group, Associated Grocers is the leading grocery wholesaler company in Western Canada serving independent retail locations in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan out of several distribution centers located in two provinces.
Reporting to the Manager, Produce Sales & Marketing, The Produce Specialist is responsible for supporting independent retail members in maximizing produce sales, profitability, quality, and customer satisfaction. This role provides expertise in fresh produce merchandising, procurement, inventory management, seasonal planning, promotional execution, and store operations.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with Produce Marketing, Sales, and Operations teams to develop, enhance, and execute produce programs that drive sales and profitability.
- Support retail produce departments with training, merchandising guidance, operational best practices, and the execution of new store openings, remodels, and department resets to achieve business goals.
- Build and maintain robust relationships with retailers through proactive support, innovative solutions, and a commitment to shared success.
- Monitor market trends and pricing to ensure competitive performance and product quality.
- Monitor produce quality, freshness, and food safety standards while supporting corrective actions when required.
- Collaborate with procurement, marketing, distribution, suppliers, and retailers to support business initiatives, product launches, and category growth.
- Communicate key updates, opportunities, and performance insights to retailers.
- Develop and distribute produce training guides, updates, and communications, to inform and engage retailers.
- Prepare and submit store visit reports, itineraries, and recommendations to support continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3-5 years of produce management, produce merchandising, fresh category management, or related experience.
- Strong knowledge of produce products, seasonality, procurement, and supply chain processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- A valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and the ability to travel on a regular basis.

Pay: $67,618.00-$84,522.00 per year
