Overview

We are looking for an experienced and dependable Operating Room Registered Nurse to join our surgical team at White Rock Orthopaedic Surgery Centre.

We are a Class 1 non-hospital surgical facility providing orthopaedic, ENT, and podiatric procedures in a focused outpatient environment. Our team works closely together, and we are looking for an OR nurse who is confident in the operating room, organized, adaptable, and enjoys being part of a smaller surgical team.

The ideal candidate has solid OR experience, strong circulating skills, and a good understanding of sterile technique, patient safety, and perioperative care. Experience with orthopaedic or ENT procedures is an asset.

Responsibilities

- Provide safe and attentive perioperative nursing care
- Perform OR circulating duties and coordinate efficient case flow
- Complete patient, procedure, site and surgical safety verification
- Assist with patient positioning and preparation for surgery
- Maintain sterile technique and support infection prevention practices
- Prepare and check required equipment, instruments, implants and supplies
- Work closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers and other members of the surgical team
- Anticipate intraoperative needs and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition




- Administer medications within RN scope and according to physician orders and facility policy
- Complete accurate and timely perioperative documentation
- Handle and document surgical specimens appropriately
- Assist with room turnover and preparation for subsequent cases
- Ensure emergency equipment and OR supplies are readily available
- Participate in safety, education and quality-improvement activities

Qualifications

- Current BCCNM Registered Nurse registration
- Operating Room nursing experience required
- Perioperative/OR nursing education or certification preferred
- Current BLS; additional emergency or advanced life-support certification is an asset
- Orthopaedic, ENT or ambulatory surgical experience is an asset
- Strong knowledge of sterile technique and infection prevention practices
- Comfortable working independently while contributing to a close-knit surgical team
- Strong communication, organization and clinical judgment
- Reliable, skilled and able to remain calm in a busy surgical environment
